I definitely was one of those who wasn't a fan of drafting these guys early who only played in spread offenses in college. However after watching Derek Carr throughout his college career, I couldn't believe he was taken behind all those others guys and he's about to take that team to the playoffs this season. Although he did play in 2 seasons of a pro style offense, he excelled in the spread and its where he made his name. It just takes practice and time to learn the little things and if the Jets scouts and coaches see a bright future, then I trust them to make the correct choice.

I will be happy if we take him at 20 or jump buffalo a few spots to take him, but I just hope we don't reach into the top 10 for a guy who needs so much work and can't huddle or call protections right now. basically this is the "point of view" that I hate the most... It's the "i don't have a clue what i'm talking about" perspective.... It'd be easier to stomach if you just said - I don't like Lynch. I could buy that easier than I could the baseless criticism getting thrown around. You either like Lynch and go get him, or be settled with the fact that he's not your guy and someone else can have him. You don't put a cap on what you're prepared to do to get him. You're somewhat of a knowledgeable poster but you really need to work on your social skills.

Seriously, people here should free to voice their opinion but mocking others is pretty absurd. I haven't seen one draft expert on a fan forum ever.

It's pretty simple. As Bill Polian once said, you don't ever overpay for a player in the draft unless it's for a QB. If a team thinks this player can be a franchise QB there is literally nothing a team shouldn't be willing to give up for him. QB is the most important position in football and the rarest. You have to take your shot when you think you may have found one. IDK enough about Lynch to say either way but if the Jets decide to make an aggressive move up to get him then I trust that they know what they're doing. And this is the only position it's worth the risk to move up for.

I think Macs moves all depends on if he gets any takers for Wilkerson. If someone in top 10 bites, he'll go after Lynch. Otherwise he might just wait and see if he falls cuz otherwise it'll be too rich to do anything else. Yes. Big Mac values his draft picks very much. The last sentence of his mini presser the other day he said he'd like to acquire more draft picks.

Good god. Draftniks are something.
Just for the record, regurgitating a bunch of other people's research doesn't make you a scout either.

I said that because the theme of the entire post was addressing the sentiment that you just replied with. It's like the whole post flew over your head. Here's the summary; he's not that raw, and we shouldn't limit what we're prepared to do to get him. Again, I feel we should be all in, or be at peace with looking elsewhere (a mistake IMO) I'm sat here recovering from a pretty brutal hangover to be honest, I read your post but I was just passing a general opinion on where I'm at with him. Listen you have a far more informed opinion of him than I do because you watch more college ball and I know you know your prospects, most of what I've seen of him I like but I've read countless articles that set alarm bells ringing about him so I'm trying to be as open minded as possible. I like all of what you mentioned but he's still got a chance of bustin out like any prospect? you have to read the constructive criticism and try to draw a line on what you will give up to get him, I say that because he's not a sure thing from what I understand so it concerns me mortgaging the future with so many other pressing needs. Having said that, if Mac feels as strongly as you then by all means go get him because we aren't goin anywhere without a quarterback, I just hope you're right. Look, i'm not a draft expert. I have some pretty strong opinions - but i'm not being paid for them. So what the fck do i know. I want people to have their own feelings about this guy... BUT in this case, I got heavy handed with you because this post was specifically geared towards dismissing the notion of " i'm only willing to draft him under _____ circumstances"... and then first reply was " I'd only draft if ____ circumstances".... So i thought i'd hang a lantern on your post. Nothing personal. As Peebag and crossfire pointed out, it does a topic no good if i'm just jumping down people's throats. I'm not... I just wanted THIS particular thread to not (once again) be a thread about " how far up and for how much - for lynch"... that's dead horse. If you're Mac, you can't approach a franchise QB like it's a flea-market haggling session. It's all or nothing.

I was trying to contribute to your thread but I don't know enough about the kid to agree to jump in feet first. Anyway fuck it, I'm not gettin involved, I'll wait to see what the experts who are being payed for this shit think/do.

If given a choice of trading away multiple 1sts to move up for Lynch, or staying put and drafting Connor Cook at 20, I'd do the latter. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I like him alot.
I would have a hard time choosing between the two if they were both sitting there at 20 for us. It's not a knock on Lynch... I just like Cook that much. I bet that there are some GMs that would agree.

I'm with whatever Mac and the brain trust decides to do....
If they like him, I think they should go get him
If they don't like him that much and they take what they feel is a better talent at 20 then I'm okay with that too...
I know this Scouting dept has done all the HW on him either way

The one thing Paxton Lynch fans on the Jets have to worry about is the San Diego Chargers are garnering interest for the #3 pick. So far it doesn't look like any deal is going down, but does it mean a team like Cleveland wants Lynch and is worried the Jets will jump ahead of them? If so the Jets might have to do better than dealing with SF.
