Hey dickhead, some posters here have family members with special needs. Consider this your first and last warning. If I see another comment of this nature from you, you're looking at a lengthy ban. Thanks for calling me dickhead. I too have family with cognitive challenges which is why I try to not use language that's too demeaning... I also have a gay mother in law if you can believe that. Doesn't stop posters from using faggot every turn of the way, or inserting gay into every post. It's nice to know that slander is up to the your subjective agenda tho. Thanks. Likening gays to people with cognitive challenges? Also, I don't think you know what slander is.

Regardless of what everyone thinks, it will sure make to be an interesting training camp if Fitz does come back. On the one hand, by everyone's indication, Geno was outplaying Fitz in camp last year. Certainly, that had a lot to do with Fitz coming off of an injury and being rusty....but until "the punch" all signs pointed to Geno being the day one starter. On the other hand, Geno is the only QB on the roster not picked by Mac Daddy, which leads credence to some arguments that Geno will be the odd man out if Fitz comes back. The interesting subplot will be what happens if Fitz comes back and Petty shits the bed this spring/summer while Geno plays well? Will Mac Daddy go off script and cut the guy he drafted just one year ago, who also comes with a cheaper cap number and who may not have been given long enough to develop? (which personally I think would be BS....Petty's been in the system for a full year....he either gets it now or he'll never get it). Or will Mac Daddy cut Petty....essentially admitting that his personal QB pick last year was a complete bust. Frankly, I'd much rather Mac Daddy admit his failings in the draft and keep the better guy....then stick with someone who isn't going to cut it just because he was drafted last year. Good post. Obviously how Geno & Petty perform in the pre-seaon will determine a lot. But I also think it's possible thatmoney could come into play. If Petty "shits the bed" then it could mean he's gone. But if Fitz signs and Geno plays just slightly better than Petty, I think Geno is gone. There is more cap savings. And it's quite possible that after watching Hack in camp and the preseason, Mac could be high enough on him to consider him the backup. Obviously there is zero need to get rid of any QB on the roster. Mac will wait until the end of the preseason to cut one of them. And I'm not buying Mac saying that they could keep 4 QBs in the season.

I think it matters that Petty is only 7 months younger than Smith and has 1 year in the NFL as the third string QB while Geno has 2 years as a starter and 1 as a back-up due to injury. I've got to think that Petty would have to outplay Smith significantly for the Jets to consider keeping Petty over Smith.

I just don't get who's going to be protecting the qb (whomever it is) - if Breno is starting this upcoming season, I hope the good lord takes pity on their souls. fitz did pretty well with breno blocking the right side. there's every reason to think the jets will have someone else out there if breno can't get the job done. aren't you the least upset to see teams like the patsies or steelers or chargers succeeding with "makeshift" offensive lines? why can't the jets do it? i'll tell you. it because the qb play has been pretty bad since chad left. neither sanchez nor genot had any pocket presence and made the oline look much worse than it is. fitz has some degree of pocket presence. so if hackenberg can get that plus not many mistakes he could be a decent starter.

heck genot started 3 seasons ago as a rookie and so did sanchez No offense, but how'd that turn out? No one here is wishing Hackenberg's career goes the route of Geno's and Sanchez's. I have said many times, I don't ever wanna see a rookie qb step in the field again with the Jets. The 2 of those assholes put me over the edge.

I've got to think that Petty would have to outplay Smith significantly for the Jets to consider keeping Petty over Smith. Sorry to requote the whole thing but I'm on my phone. You said that if Petty didn't significantly outplay Geno, you think he will be gone. But if Geno doesn't outplay Petty, isn't that a major indictment on his ability? Anyway, I think we are getting way ahead of ourselves anyway. Nobody saw Geno being an idiot last year and getting his jaw broken. So Mac has little incentive to cut any of them until camp ends. And by the time camp is over, a lot could change. Mac and Bowles have had a year to look at Geno and they don't seem overly impressed with him. They think that a QB who has had a history as a mediocre QB and shit the bed in the most important game of his career is still a better option than Geno. And to me, thst speaks volumes about how they feel about him. Now that doesn't mean they don't view him as a serviceable backup. But time will tell.
