All young quarterbacks struggle with balancing within themselves and playing within the offense. I tend to think Hackenberg relies too much on himself and making a great play instead of the play his offense needs in that moment. And isn't that what a QB winds up doing when there are no other players to rely on? I guess the issue with lifting his back foot is what the "coaches" at Penn State were trying to "address"? Let's hope Patullo is a great QB coach. Obviously Mac has faith in him. He really will need the time to decompress from that awful situation at PSU and let's hope with all the qB's on the roster he gets it. He missed that long throw to the receiver at the combine but you have to wonder how well does the receiver know the route in that situation and whose fault is it? And some other QB missed it too, I think ti was Wentz I watched Gruden's camp with Wentz too where Gruden was trying to get him to hold the ball with two hands when running (ala Carson Palmer) and he looked really awkward. HE tries hard but looks like it is going to be hard for him to adjust what he already is doing a certain way. Hackenberg doesn't look that far behind (she says optimisticallY) GREAT write up, thanks LIth

He needs to work on his confidence and becoming more sure of himself before he steps on an NFL field. These factors will go a long way to stabilizing his future development because the past leaves a lot to be desired. I really really believe this.... A lot of the bad from Hackenburg is confidence issues because of the situation he had to play through...it wasn't ideal for any QB.. He needs nurturing from a CS before seeing the field. I know talk will ramp up of starting Hack from day 1 because we always like to throw the new guy into the fire and see what we have but I wholeheartedly disagree with that notion and honestly it would be a mistake.

Another point.....
In working with Jordan Palmer to get ready for the pre-draft workouts, I love the fact that he prepared for the NFCCG as if he were Carson Palmer, getting ready to face Carolina that Sunday. I read that he even had conference calls with Carson a few times. It's a great introduction to the level of preparation that's needed to succeed at the next level. Just the time that is put into dissecting your opponent and working on the gameplan for that week separates the great QBs from the good ones. The article Lith posted mentioned that his preparation will determine whether he becomes a viable QB or not. I believe it, and Hack mentioned certain QBs who he idolizes (Brady, Rodgers, even Palmer). They all take their craft seriously and go the extra mile to play at a high level. If he has the same obsession, the same "eat, sleep, breathe football" mentality as the 3 QBs he mentioned, it will take him very far.
Ironically enough, pre-injury Carson Palmer is probably his ceiling. But let's not get carried away just yet his floor is very, very low.

He was forever banished to a delusional, lonely abyss beyond the outer perimeter... I think he went to Scout

So annoying especially the Jacoby Brissett one. Apparently they were secretly really high on this kid the whole time. Did ANYONE ever mention this kid even ONCE during the whole pre-draft season, mocks, etc? The Pats are soooooo much smarter than everyone else

If brissett stayed at UF he prob would've been a first round pick If Hackensack had transferred to a better school when he had the chance to without punishment after majority of highly recruited teammates did thus leaving him with a horrendous O-line, then he would've been the #1 pick.

That too , hack should've went to UF , spot wide open for him instead of bum treon Harris , we maybe could've won the sec a couple times with hack , maybe a championship

But think about it , if hack did leave to another school we wouldn't have him as a jet , this could mean something maybe it's just destined to go that way lol
