I don't really feel like there's any big push or reason to bring him back. Given that we're grooming Hack for 2017, what's the point?
10+ million for a 1-year mentor/band-aide doesn't feel like a fit anymore. We've got a tough as balls schedule, a lot of unknown talent at QB... What do we really stand to lose by letting Geno and Petty run the offense? It doesn't make a ton of sense to invest a lot of money into Fitz anymore IMO. We stand to gain a lot more by finding out what Petty can do as a backup and whether there's a way to spin Geno into some return $$ next offseason.
It's not breaking news to feel this way, but post-draft - given our picks... just not feeling Fitz anymore. At all.

My guess is that Fitz still signs with us bc I dont think Mac and Bowles wanna throw away a season. Marshall, Decker, Mangold, Revis and Harris arent getting any younger. Not sure how many of them will be on the team in 2017. Our 2015 competent passing offense can turn back into 2012-2014 Benny Hill version awfully quick.

I agree 100%
Start Geno. Have the kids fight it out for the two job.
I think Geno will play well if given the reigns.

Geno can't be qb his respect is stained in the locker room , got knocked tf out , ain't a leader , lost his job at , no way he can be the starter , also I wonder if he's in an awkward spot wit the team , I rather get a vet and let vet and petty hack go at it

I still want him back. He's great for the locker room and the onfield chemistry was the best we've had since '98. Bottom line is no one is paying Fitz what he's looking for since most teams have their QB position settled at this point. We'll meet somewhere in the middle and get a deal done.

I'd like him (or another vet) back because I don't want to see Petty or Hack starting this year. Let these 2 kids develop. I also think Fitz may be a good mentor for Hack.

He's not part of the future. No point in postponing everyone's development another year.

This is a tough one.
I'm not a big fan of Fitz. But I'm certainly not a fan of Geno either. I wanted Geno to start last year to see what he was. But he's a stupid ass and got his jaw broken. And the fact that his teammates stayed so quiet afterward says a lot about what they think about him.
But I would also like to see Hack & Petty sit another season and learn.
In the imperfect world that is the Jets, I would prefer to see Fitz start this season. But not at a great cost. I like how Mac has played this. I think he feels the same way many of us do. If Fitz is willing to come back at a very reasonable price, he would like to keep him. But if not, he's willing to move on. But even then, he still hasn't committed to Geno as the starter. If Mac liked Geno, he would have just forgotten about Fitz already. But obviously he doesn't trust Geno.
I still think Fitz will be back.
And as hard as the start of the season is, I still think there are a lot of very beatable teams on this schedule.

I'd rather he didn't come back. The ONLY thing that would make it palatable to me is if we trade Mo for something in next years draft. That would give us the money to sign the rookies, Fitz, and have a few million left over. I really don't want to carry 4 Qbs on the roster though. If we have to just let Mo go for a comp pick I would be pissed. The worst scenario is if we keep Fitz and Mo, restructure contracts and cut Breno. That would suck balls.

i'm no genot fan but he did lead the team to 8-8 with less than great players. considering that he threw away games with bad playing, if he has shown that those same mistakes have been corrected then maybe he won't be that bad. but it certainly looks like he has planted himself firmly in bowles dog house and hasn't shown enough contrition or whatever to get out. i can see genot's side but at the same time he's not doing anyone any favors by showing a bad attitude. if he wants a future he needs to step up and prove he belongs.

The Eagles and the Texans with their idiotic contracts really screwed the QB market. Fitz would've signed by now if not for those dumbasses paying Osweiler, Bradford and Daniels that much

Rather give Mo his money instead of paying Fitz

Time to move on Fitz couldn't deliver a playoff appearance with a easy schedule and a stacked roster. He certainly isn't doing anything with the tougher schedule this year. I don't know if the Jets have the cap space for even 7 million that they want to give Fitz. My sense is the Jets might have already decided to move on without him.
