This is a tough one. I'm not a big fan of Fitz. But I'm certainly not a fan of Geno either. I wanted Geno to start last year to see what he was. But he's a stupid ass and got his jaw broken. And the fact that his teammates stayed so quiet afterward says a lot about what they think about him. But I would also like to see Hack & Petty sit another season and learn. In the imperfect world that is the Jets, I would prefer to see Fitz start this season. But not at a great cost. I like how Mac has played this. I think he feels the same way many of us do. If Fitz is willing to come back at a very reasonable price, he would like to keep him. But if not, he's willing to move on. But even then, he still hasn't committed to Geno as the starter. If Mac liked Geno, he would have just forgotten about Fitz already. But obviously he doesn't trust Geno. I still think Fitz will be back. And as hard as the start of the season is, I still think there are a lot of very beatable teams on this schedule. We think like twins bro Triplets

Either sign Fitz for 1-2 years at $8M-$10M a year, or just move on with Geno, Petty and Hack.
This is getting old now. How many more games will we win with Fitz over Geno? Not enough to justify his contract aspirations.

Time to move on Fitz couldn't deliver a playoff appearance with a easy schedule and a stacked roster. He certainly isn't doing anything with the tougher schedule this year. I don't know if the Jets have the cap space for even 7 million that they want to give Fitz. My sense is the Jets might have already decided to move on without him. imo, the tougher schedule shouldn't be that much of a concern. first off what teams did last season doesn't mean there will do well this season. some will and some will tank. only a few teams have the ability to be good year after year. secondly this team is still very strong. the defense is strong and may have gotten stronger with the two lb picks. the oline may have gotten stronger with clady and so have the receivers and backs. the only real hole is at qb. since this team needs a good game manager then genot may be able to do the job.

You said somthing about being a good game manager if Fitz was this game manager then the Jets make the playoffs. The 3 picks in Buffalo is proof enough he isn't a good game manager. No sense screwing up the salary cap for a back up QB.

What teams on this list are going to be worse than last yr?? I see most teams playing at a higher level, and the other 3 being equal to last yr. (Browns, 49ers, Colts) The Pats, in my estimation, got worse.... but Brady is the great equalizer. They'll win 11 games even with the suspension. 1 SEP 11 1:00PMEDT * BENGALS 2 SEP 15 8:25PMEDT * , AT BILLS 3 SEP 25 4:25PMEDT * AT CHIEFS 4 OCT 2 1:00PMEDT ) SEAHAWKS 5 OCT 9 1:00PMEDT * AT STEELERS 6 OCT 17 8:30PMEDT + AT CARDINALS 7 OCT 23 1:00PMEDT * RAVENS 8 OCT 30 1:00PMEDT * AT BROWNS 9 NOV 6 1:00PMEST * AT DOLPHINS 10 NOV 13 1:00PMEST ) RAMS 11 BYE 12 NOV 27 8:30PMEST ' PATRIOTS 13 DEC 5 8:30PMEST + COLTS 14 DEC 11 4:05PMEST * AT 49ERS 15 DEC 17 8:25PMEST , DOLPHINS 16 DEC 24 1:00PMEST * AT PATRIOTS 17 JAN 1 1:00PMEST * BILLS

I have no idea which team(s) it will be but it is inevitable that a few of the teams will be worse than what we expect (because of injury, form, whatever) and some will be better. Who foresaw what happened to the entire NFC east last year, or KC make the playoffs after a 1-5 start, or Indy taking a nosedive after going to the AFCCG, or baltimore winning what 3?-4? games. Yes injuries are a part of the game and there is no guarantee for example carson palmer suits up against us. Of course we could also be a team that deals with injuries but hey, that's the game.

I don't think the drop off to Geno will be much if any. I think guys like Marshall will rally around him, realizing that Fitz's demands were just too damn high. At this point, save the money on Fitz, and get Mo taken care of.

I'd like him back, at a price the team can afford under the current salary cap constraints. As stated earlier in the thread, the schedule is a ball buster and all hands on deck are needed to keep it from really being a dismal year, while allowing the young quarterbacks to develop. If Fitz and his representatives continue to delay and balk at the offer, then set a hard and fast deadline, close negotiations and move forward with who is on the team. One concern I do have is Marshall's mindset. He loves Fitz's ass, and was known to become a malcontent with the Bears when Jay Cutler screwed up. Well, if he got pissed at Cutler's screw ups, he's going to hate playing with Geno behind center. He may give Hackenberg and/or Petty some slack, but will absolutely go nuts with bonehead moves by Geno.

Before Geno got his jaw busted these guys were roomies and Geno was his guy....remember?

Now that the draft is over, signing big free agents have gone, I have absolutely no qualms with signing Fitzpatrick to a 1 year deal. Our cap space is just going to chill anyway might as well sign him for 1 year. I would not want to sign him to a 2 year deal however.

No shitz (given) for Fitz. We know what we get with the guy. At this point, might as well see if Geno has learned an iota of the game by seeing how Fitz prepared and lead the team. If he's garbage, we don't honor his 5th year option and he's a goner and we roll with one of the youngans plus a free agent vet next year in camp.
