Have a friend that lives out of zone. In a condo or apartment with a deck where attachments aren't allowed. Have him sign up with your computer. Pay him and go about you buisness

Tried the old pretend to quit thing last night and it nearly backfired. I used my usual "It's ridiculous that new subscribers get ST for free" thing and the retention person was actually preparing the termination paperwork! I basically short circuited the whole thing once our 15 month old started crying and said, I can't finish this right now, I'll call back later but crap. If that's not going to work, maybe the AT&T merger ruined all this. ANyone have any luck this year? I think we're all screwed this year into paying the full price since AT&T took over. Every year I just about got the thing for free until last year when they wouldn't budge an inch. Keep us updated if you work something out with them.

yea but that doesn't show live action, correct? Of course its live you asshole. How the fuck could i be participating in the game threads. It works perfectly. You type in you address it tells you if your eligible . Otherwise ill post streams for everyone that will make your computers and you have meltdowns like u never seen. When they go in and out There are 2 different things Rags - Direct TV's live streaming and NFL's Game Pass - Direct TV's live streaming is live - NFL's Game Pass is a replay repository. so suck it and give us a podcast!

I am so mad that the NFL is essentially precluded from embracing the technology available to make games available live on-line by the game, team, division, etc... The NFL thought they screwed Direct TV when they sold them the exclusive rights to broadcast live games through NFL Ticket for 8 years at $1.5 billion per year in 2014. But, it is the NFL that got hosed by getting locked into the Direct TV deal through 2022!
The NFL TV contract negotiations must be have been run by a bunch of Jibronis. So, short sighted. So lacking an understanding of where broadcasting was headed. This alone is reason for the owners to sack the commish. He has left billions of dollars on the table.

I renegotiated my deal since I was off contract with DirecTV. I previously had a bunch of premium channels like HBO, ShowTime, CineMax, etc. plus the Xtra Choice Pkg and the NFL Sunday Ticket. I called to let them know I was cancelling all my premium channels and that I wanted a discount on the Sunday Ticket. With a recent switch to Cox Communications gigabit internet I told them that I could completely switch to Cox cable TV for less than $40/month. Long story, short - After about 40 minutes of conversation I did cut most of my premium channels but kept HBO. I added a 4th wireless Genie receiver for $7/month (to be used on an outdoor TV) and got two discounts ($30 credit per month for 12 months, $10 credit per month for 6 months). The $30 for 12 months ($360) will pay for Sunday Ticket and the cost of adding the new Genie receiver. The $10 is essentially a credit to keep HBO. Overall, I'm happy. My bill will still be about $110/month but I've got a lot of base channels, HBO and NFL Sunday ticket plus we're running 4 DirecTV receivers with whole-house DVR and one of them is the outdoor wireless Genie box. I had to make a 12 month contract commitment that I wouldn't cancel, otherwise I'd pay a penalty of $20 per month for however many months were remaining on my contract.

Are you going to keep that Genie outside or just bring it outside when you watch TV? And what TV are you keeping outside? Or are you lugging that out when you want to watch TV too.

I'll bring the Genie inside most of the time I think, unless it's the weekend and the weather looks good (which it does most of the time out here). As for the TV, I'm going to use a 40" MirageVision TV which is essentially a weatherized Samsung smart TV. Mirage takes a standard LED TV and seals it's internal components against moisture, changes some vents, adds fans for cooling, etc. It's an outdoor TV that doesn't need to ever come inside. To be safe I'll likely put a cover over it most of the time but it will be mounted on a patio under a deck overhang so it won't ever really get hit by rain or direct sunlight anyway.

Thanks for the tip on the Miragevision TV.. the ones I were looking at were like $2,500 for a 32" 1080p!
And I'm doing the same thing - creating a patio underneath a deck. Do you have any suggestions for a good TV wall mount that swivels 180" and can be screwed into concrete?
And do you have any surround sound outdoors? I'm thinking about getting a Soundbar - BOSE has one that can hook up to the TV or to your iphone or whatever and use Bluetooth.

About 3 years ago, I did something similar, but DTV had me agree to a 2 year commitment. I was thinking of calling again this year, but was wondering if they will know I am a "repeat" threatened canceller? My big problem is that where I live in PA, I get all of the NY sports channels because Comcast owns the Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers broadcasts and will not contract with DTV. So, they give me SNY, YES and MSG. If I switch I lose the Mets, Rangers, and Knicks. And I can't get the Met games on MLB Ticket (or whatever it is called) because they are blacked out here. If I could, I would switch to Comcast and save a boatload of money. I would just be forced to watch the Jet Games on Season Pass instead of NFL Ticket.

Yeah, you're in an interesting situation regarding coverage and blackouts. It's like you're too close to NY to get Mets on MLB.TV but too far to get your NY sports channels if you went to Comcast. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that if you made a 2-year commitment 3 years ago then you should be off contract and you can definitely negotiate some type of discount or credit. Call them, tell them you're off contract, and that the costs are just too high compared to Comcast. Tell them it's hard to see new subscribers getting DTV's best deals when you've been a customer for many years. You could even talk about removing some channels, going to a lower tier package, etc. but that you'd really like to keep what you have and just ask for any loyalty discounts, etc. Good luck.

Not out of contract, so I wasn't as lucky. I had to take half price on ST and Free Starz for 3 mos. After last time, I was fine with that . On the good side, they threw in the Max for "free". Just another warning to the guys with Directv. They're playing hardball this year. Like Jetstream said, the NFL really sold themselves short giving Directv exclusivity. Direct is in position to really take advantage this year post-merger.

I'm thinking about getting a Soundbar - BOSE has one that can hook up to the TV or to your iphone or whatever and use Bluetooth. No surround sound outside. I have a fairly elaborate networked entertainment system based on RTi technologies. I can send any source (DTV, Apple TV, Pandora, etc.) to any of 5 zones (Family Room, Living Room, Master Bed, Patio and Pool). The last two zones are outside in the backyard so I can send DirecTV (sound only) to my outdoor speakers on the Patio or at the Pool. But when I mount the TV outside it will essentially be a "point solution" meaning it won't be integrated into my overall entertainment system. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if I put on the outside TV to the Jets game (or anything else) and then set my Patio speakers to play the sound from the same DirecTV station it wouldn't be in sync. There would likely be a delay of about 1-2 seconds. So I'll either rely on the TV audio for whatever we're watching or I'll add a soundbar like the ones Mirage seems to offer. The one benefit of my setup is that it will let me put on the game outside with no volume and play music at the Patio and Pool which kind of helps when we're entertaining or the wife wants music outside instead of having to hear the game even while we have the game on.

That's where I feel I ended up with DTV. I'm still paying about $110/month but I've got a lot of channels, HBO, Sunday Ticket, etc. and a lot of leased equipment. I'm not raking DTV over the coals but I also feel like they're not overcharging me at this point for all the stuff I have.

kind of helps when we're entertaining ===================================================== Tell us more about this entertaining, keeping in mind the Jets are coming to town and it is possible some Hampurites will show for said game. I'm sure WCO will want to hear about this.
