Think that's selling their drafts short. SparklePony is great but you need more than a great QB to win 12 games a year. Heck, they win 10 with Cassel. They always have a great oline; their defense has been mediocre at times but also great at times. They've found a bunch of decent RBs a two stud TEs over the last few years (I'm sure Robinson had nothing to do with the background check on Hernandez. And they always manage to have a great kicker and punter. They might not excel at the top of the draft but I doubt anyone hits in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds as often as they do. Any o-line will be great if they are the only team allowed to hold on every play. But don't let facts get in the way of your admiration for them. They don't have a great OLine and they have swung and missed a ton since Pioli left. It's been all Tommy boy with poor defense when the playoffs start. Glowing commentary can quickly turn to ridicule if they lose for the 3rd consecutive time to Baltimore.

You're suggesting that a multimillion dollar company is allowing one team to circumvent the rules and telling me not to let the facts get in the way? Come on! I think your hatred is getting in the way. I hate them too, but yes, I admire their sustained excellence in this era of the NFL which is designed to restrict sustained excellence.? Hey if you refuse to see it I just don't know what to tell ya

Bill has botched a ton of picks - mostly of the 2nd round variety but not only there. I will say that it's nothing short of tragic to see the crappy picks and lack of attention towards getting Brady good WRs. They went 16-0 with Moss but that wasn't a big enough clue for hoodie.

I dare anyone to find a single metric by any NFL draft analysis organization that puts NE anywhere near the bottom of the league as declared by "Jets fan common knowledge." They aren't the Seahawks when it comes to the draft, but they sure as hell aren't the Jaguars, either, which is about where most people here seem to want to place them.
There's a cognitive bias at play here because you follow the Pats' moves more closely than any other organization, so you remember all of their busts but none of the busts that the Packers, Ravens, or Steelers have.

Brady can't throw a deep ball worth a shit, so why would it matter, right?

Yes!!! There is no way they could have the success they have without killing it in the draft. As I said earlier, they are stacked with middle and late round picks that that contribute significantly. You don't win championships by hitting HRs in the first and second round, you win by consistently hitting singles and doubles in the middle and late rounds, something we Jet fans know nothing about.

Maccagnan and Quinn early next week sounds feasible.... Anyone know the rules as far as hiring personnel that's still in the playoffs?

Would be VERY happy if that scenario worked out for us. I'd be happy with a Bowles or Quinn, even a Reich (if we can surround them with solid, experienced coordinators), paired with him as GM.
