Wow, if Dimitroff is pushing for McDaniels, then I want no part of him (assuming he ever became available). Pioli has already been exposed, much like the other frauds from the cheating tree in NE, after his stint at KC which was a major failure. He traded for a backup QB coming off of one good season and was quickly shown the door in KC. Not sure what Pioli is exactly doing in ATL but that team has regressed in a major way the past two years. Any tema that thinks Josh McDaniels is the answer, LMAO. His work in NE (riding on Tammy's success) cannot hide his failed stints at Denver and St. Louis. That stain remains and will once again emerge when he is away from Brady. Wanna bet?

Blank would be wise to go with his gut. He is a self-made guy and should trust his instints. Let Rex come in and inject some personality and balls into that franchise. Sell some PSLs for your new stadium and give him a 3 year window to win it all. If it doesn't work then blow it up after that. I don't think Rex is a 10 year coach. His star burns bright but also burns out fasgand outide of DL he isn't much of a evaluator/cultivator/developer of talent.

Even though it clearly didn't work out here, I bet Rex has taken enough lessons learned that, mixed with his personality, will allow to be a long-time coach in this league. The Falcons did not show up in that season-ending loss to Carolina. If Rex is the coach of that team, I just can't see them getting steamrolled the way that they did. Showing up was rarely the issue with this team (45-3 not withstanding of course). It was execution, which I think plagued the Jets more than most other franchises during Rex's tenure since the QB rarely did anything to cover up or recover from those mistakes. If he goes to the Falcons, with Matt Ryan already established, I bet he does coach for 10 years. I'm sure plenty may have thought Belidick wasn't a 10-year HC, but he found his QB and now he's 15 years in. As you said, Blank should trust his instincts here. Rex is the right man for that job.

Ryan is expected to get a second interview in Atlanta when they bring in finalists for their head coaching job.

I know his time was up here, but get the feeling we'll have a little envy of his situation in Atlanta in about a year. There was no doubt that Herm & Mangini were not long for the sideline, but it feels different with Rex.

Special place in my heart for Rex. Also many successful head coaches were not successful their first go-round. Darth Hoodie for example. Rex is best suited for Atlanta. Black is slimming. Jets and Falcons have similar aerodynamic metaphors he can use to inspire. Install an offensive coordinator that he never has to talk to and he can likely succeed.
"Let's make sure we play like the fucking New York Jets. And not some fucking slapdick team." Go get your goddamn snack, Rex. You deserve it.

Rex is the right man for that job. You mean like the Jets did in both Buffalo games and the SD game this year - that's almost 20% this year? You Rex supporters say that the Jets play hard for Rex so many times that you're all starting to believe it. I'll bet if you look back at all the games over the last 6 years, there are probably more games that the Jets didn't "show up" for (there were at least 2 or 3 against Miami and the same against NE I believe to start) than any other team in the league. How many teams fail to show up 20% of the time. But you guys keep saying it if it makes you feel better. Keep remembering the few goods things he did and conveniently overlook all the bad so that you can craft the story the way you want to.

Falcons are changing things in their front office and some people believe its in anticipation of a "big personality" like Rex Ryan coming to ATL. Blank seems to want a direct line to the new coach.
