Falcons are changing things in their front office and some people believe its in anticipation of a "big personality" like Rex Ryan coming to ATL. Blank seems to want a direct line to the new coach. Vewwwy intewesting

I predict Rex takes a year off (TV) and goes to the Bengals next year after Marvin Lewis is fired. No idea why his firing hasn't already been made..

Marvin Lewis is often used an example by Jets fans for why the Jets should have stuck with Rex. "Look how bad the Bengals were and then they started making the playoffs! Continuity is key!"

Actually that's not what Jets fans say at all but thanks for your twist on it - check the awards you received for making it.

Never heard that once. I would never look at Marvin Lewis an example of anything outside of making some really good teams very mediocre. He's a classic underachiever as a HC.

Cinci is and has been the biggest waste of a playoff spot in NFL history. Only NE is reaching Cinci levels of wasted playoff spots.

Our good friend, the trademarked hotel chain who leaves green walls of words on scout made that argument. Thankfully he is not a Jet fan.

The Falcons let their OC leave for the Bucs even though he was under contract. Kinda makes me think they aren't going with Rex unless Blank is a total moron, which is a possibility. Their O wasn't broke and if you were entertaining the idea of Rex as HC why would you let that guy leave?

On the radio today, LaCanfora said Blank really likes Rex but the rest of the FO wants someone more 'malleable', ie less experienced, a first time coach, which is kind of a weird criteria to have.

Another interesting tidbit. The Bucs new OC worked with Oregons HC for 9 years. Is Mariotta going to the Bucs?

Interesting because I think the consensus around here has become that Rex, while a big personality, was apparently a bit of a walkover and pacifist when it came to the draft, etc. I'm not sure what they mean by malleable. If they're afraid he will be very strong-willed on personnel, well, that apparently wasn't really the case here. If they're afraid he will become the face of the franchise and command all of the attention, well, that's going to happen wherever Rex goes.

Why on earth would you want a shrinking violet as the head of your team? I mean, they already had Milquetoast Mike, it was hard to remember who was their coach at times the way he blended into the background.
