Bill Musgrave is my first choice the Raiders are nuts. Versus Denver with Matt McGloin at QB and the #2 seed in the AFC on the line the Raiders laid an egg. Yes, I understand they didn't have Derek Carr......but if you have a subpar QB then tell me why Latavius Murray only had 5 carries that game? Why did Oakland only rush 16 times? I'm not sure Musgrave is the answer for the Jets. Musgrave had a lot to do with Carr's development. Mcgloin is the most overrated QB in the NFL he is not a NFL QB. I think Musgrave was playing safe didn't want to wear down his RBS for the playoffs knowing they were screwed at QB.

Saw someone mention Ken Whisenhunt on another forum. SD hasn't let him out of his contract yet but presumably their to-be HC could decide to go in another direction and let him loose. He and Bowles were position coaches here in 2000. Wouldn't be a bad choice, IMO.

So far it looks like a slow start for the Jets in searching for their next OC following the "retirement" of Chan Gailey. A few data points... 1. The Jets were denied the ability to interview Eagles QB coach John DeFillipo for their OC position. While this is unfortunate it does seem like a good indication that the Jets are focused on a person with strong QB development chops (DeFillipo is being credited with Carson Wentz's mostly successful rookie year at QB) 2. Today the Raiders confirmed they will not be retaining their OC, Bill Musgrave, despite having the 6th ranked offense in the NFL and a fairly successful season. Part of the reason for letting Musgrave walk seems to be the Raiders fear that their QB coach, Todd Downing, could get swooped up by another team for their OC position. Two NFL teams reportedly inquired about Downing who will now be promoted to the Raiders OC position. We don't know for sure that the Jets are one of the two teams but it seem likely. This would be strike two in simply trying to contact/interview an OC candidate who has had success developing a QB (2nd Round pick Derek Carr). Where do the Jets go next? pretty sure the QB coach they promoted to OC was the real mastermind behind Carr. Musgrave is a JAG Mike McCOy. Anthony Lynn... and for god sakes, can we get Curtis Johnson on this staff already

If Anthony Lynn doesn't get a HC gig, he would be a nice fit. He can bring his QB with him if he likes.

What about Clemson's HC or OC? There was some weird shit going on in that game, and we need more weird shit.

Interesting. Not going to pretend to know anything about him, but I think this is the type we should likely deem as realistic. NFL position coaches or maybe college OCs.

Most of their offense from Buffalo would start over our guys....Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins, Richie Incognito, Cordy Glenn....heck, even Charles Clay with his 57 catches at the TE spot would be a starter here.

We won't be fortunate enough to have a great OC but bad HC candidate (like a McCoy) come to the Jets. It's similar on defense, some NFL team is possibly going to get Rex Ryan to run their defense. They won't even have to tell him where the offensive meetings are held.....not that he'd ever care to visit that half of the building. With a focus on D only he'd be a great addition. Back to Studesville, I think it's a positive if the Jets next OC comes with either a boatload of QB development experience OR with a strong focus on running the football. Denver hasn't had one of the true elite RBs in recent years (there's no Adrian Peterson, Le'Veon Bell, David Johnson out there). This guy seems to consistently take a group of slightly above average JAGs and then run the football well. Wouldn't mind seeing him coaching a group like Dalvin Cook, Matt Forte and Bilal Powell next year.

A little more on Studesville from ProFootballRumours.com www.profootballrumors.com/2017/01/jets-broncos-eric-studesvilleBroncos running backs coach Eric Studesville has an interview scheduled with the Jets for their offensive coordinator position, a source tells Mike Klis of 9NEWS (on Twitter). Eric Studesville (vertical)
Studesville served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2004 until 2008. When Buffalo replaced him as OC, he remained on staff as the running backs coach. In 2010, he joined up with the Broncos under the same role and but he spent four games that year as interim head coach after Josh McDaniels was canned. After serving as running backs coach under three different Denver coaches, Studesville would like to move back up in the coaching world.
The Broncos are interviewing Mike McCoy and Bill Musgrave for their OC job today. So far, we haven’t gotten any word of Studesville being considered for the position. Is that a red flag? Or, does Denver like Studesville but they're hoping to land a guy like McCoy?

Wow...is this THE Eric Studesville?!?
(Who the hell is Eric Studesville?!?)
Is this what everyone wanted when we called for a big-name proven OC with a track record in developing QBs?

Legit question. Let's say this guy gets the job.
Has an NFL team ever had black coaches at the HC, OC and DC at the same time? I don't know if it would be a first, wouldn't surprise me though if it was.
