We will. If Petty and Hackenburg , don't show promise we have to do whatever it takes to draft one of QB's coming out in 2018. It's a strong draft for QB's. That's why I think one of the objectives for Maccagnan should be to trade down this year. Whether we draft at 6....10...or 13....I think we'll get a guy who can compete at some position other than QB (think RB, CB, etc.). But accumulating a 2nd Round pick in 2018 by trading down this year would give the Jets some ammo next season. I'd also trade Sheldon for a 2018 pick....NOT a 2017 pick. If he could be dealt for a 3rd or 4th this year I think we could instead get a 2nd or 3rd NEXT year. Going into the 2018 draft with a 1st, 2nd, 2nd and 2nd would give the Jets some serious ammo to move around for a QB in that Draft. I agree totally about trading down. We might need an extra 2nd round pick to trade back up for a left tackle. We certainly need one. I want that extra 2nd rounder so we can do that this year. lets worry about the 2018 draft next offseason. We can fix alot of things this year. maybe the light bulb goes on and Hackenburg develops into a #1 guy.

I'd be optimistic if they were able to bring in Morton as OC and Godsey at the QB coach. That would be very nice indeed. I was actually hoping for Godsey at QB coach and Brian Daboll as OC, but that looks unlikely. Morton and Godsey would be a good alternative. If Godsey gets the OC job, I think he may try to bring Texans offensive assistant Pat O'Hara - who helped Godsey with the QBs - with him as his QB coach. Not going to lie, I don't know a lot about godsey. But why is everyone so high on him? Texans offense under godsey ranked 19th and 29th in the NFL. And osweiler looked like a complete bum so can he really develop qbs? And I read somewhere Obrien stripped him of his play calling duties like week 3 of the season. I'd stay away from him, but like I said I don't know much about the guy

If they had any kind of competency at all on the O they would have bounced the cheaters. and this guy is great WHY? I think it's one of the only ppl who will take Mac's call, IMO, but like you say, don't know much about him

Well, it sounds as though the Jets are getting closer to a hire:
We are all going to be so stoked when he finally decides to just promote Dorrell.

Has OC experience, has been a position coach for QBs, RBs, TEs, comes from the Belidick tree which produces good coaches, was a trusted right-hand man for O'Brien for several years. Did pretty well with an ever-changing QB roster in 2015. Not entirely his fault that his front office blew millions on a QB who can't actually play. He's not the big name we were hoping for, but he's an experienced OC and a solid coach. Some feeling on Texans sites that he was a bit of a scapegoat for Osweiler and O'Brien this year.

Now that I think about it, and probably over-think it, if Bowles really does know which guy he is hiring the it's probably more likely to be Morton.
He's already interviewed him, while Godsey seens not to have been interviewed yet.
Not even the Jets would hire a guy without interviewing him first, right?
The Jets didn't know that Godsey was going to become available, so may want to interview him just as due diligence before going with Morton as the guy they have been targeting?
Of course, I anticipate that Godsey will now be hired as soon as I post this...

It did seem to be destined as soon as the Texans let him go.

I'm perfectly ok with Godsey.
His 2016 accomplishments look less than impressive, but the previous year, with the QBs he had under center, is impressive if you ask me.

So, it looks like Bowles' plan when Chan gave him 2 years notice he would need a new OC in 2017, was to sit and wait for the Texans to unexpectedly fire Godsey and then hire him.
What a genius scheme.
