It boils down to this. If you don't believe a player can can make a serious improvements by fixing basic fundamental flaws in their mechanics, then yes, I think that's basically idiotic. Do you know how long and how hard Tebow worked to fix basic fundamental flaws? How many off-season? How many QB coaches? And how Trent Dilfer gave a 20 minute dissertation before his last attempt at the NFL about how he had completely remade himself and was a completely different thrower of the football? And now he's playing A ball for the Mets. If you don't believe that it's POSSIBLE that some guys simply cannot throw a football regardless of good or bad mechanics that may or may not be capable of being fixed, then you are in the good company of an idiot. All the positive feel good articles (where he basically admitted he wasn't ready to take hold of the position by the throat and rip it away as you would hope he would have done- 'hey, it's out of my hands') mean absolutely nothing. All it is is blind hope. _

I never said anything remotely close to that. You are the one stating Hack couldn't possibly have made improvements in 4 months, which is inaccurate.

I never said anything remotely close to that. You are the one stating Hack couldn't possibly have made improvements in 4 months, which is inaccurate. Oh so not only am I an idiot I'm ignorant too. You have really supported your position mightily strongly there, hope-boy. I really don't think you watched Hack play a lot in college or Tebow for that matter. (BTW, the Tebow point was just an illustration that all the work in the world can't fix broken, yet that QB Guru of Gurus Trent Dilfer gave glowingly "positive" reports on his progress so maybe he's an idiot and ignorant too-but ignore that if you'd like-don't just assume hard work can fix something because sometimes it can't). For all the bullshit I heard about how great Hack was his freshman year, he actually wasn't all that great. Promising but wildly inconsistent and incredibly inaccurate at times. Then layer on all the excuses about how they changed up his coaching, his system, the (seriously) foot he dropped back with, his awful OLine--but NOTHING about simply how bad he was. It wasn't mechanics, it was an inherent flaw-he's just not accurate. Tweak him all you want but he's never going to be a 65% completion guy which is what you need to consistently compete. And he's stiff in the pocket and goes fetal in the face if a pass rush. Is that stuff REALLY getting fixed on some high school field in Western PA? I may be an idiot and ignorant but maybe you're being a tad naive. I like the kid but I really disliked him as a player at Penn State and wanted nothing to do with him in the draft. His performance last year-if you can call it that, didn't change my views. A fluff piece about "positive" things isn't doing that at all. I'm rooting like hell for him, I'm just not going to be naive and believe what I witnessed over the last 4 years was a mirage and the REAL Hack is ready to consistently compete. _

And I didnt said he couldn't improve or that positive strides couldn't have been made, because he couldn't possibly regress.
I just said that there is nothing truly positive that would lead anyone to believe he could play as a competent QB in the NFL.
He might have made INCREDIBLE strides--for him--which are relative. He could still be pretty inaccurate instead of wildly inaccurate.
But I'm just an ignorant idiot who doesn't take much stock in a fluff piece.

Now if you are saying that it isn't true and he hasn't really improved, then that isn't an issue for me. Believe what you want to believe. He most certainly could have made serious improvements in his mechanics or footwork in 4 months, which definitely could translate to the field. Dale Murphy as a hitter. Perfect example. Made a fundamental change to his batting stance and swing approach. Took a year / offseason to do it. Voila! Much improved hitter.

Yeah but the guy was a serious hitter almost from the get go. A massive power guy, tweak something here or there and I get it. Not a total rebuild. And it's not like he went from a .220 hitter to a .330 hitter. And maturity also had a lot to do with it. It's a rebuild with Hack, not a tweak. _

He's clearly not the worst prospect ever. He has prototypical NFL size and a prototypical NFL arm. Not prototypical NFL arm talent. But to me accuracy, release, mobility, fearlessness are so much more important. That he can supposedly read defenses because he "ran the Patriots offense" as an 18 year old against other 18-21 year olds 4 years ago doesn't mean that translates to the NFL, if it's even true. I saw some awful decision making as a freshman. Throwing right to defenders. You mistake me for a "hater". I wanted nothing to do with him on draft day but now that he's here I HAVE to root for him. Something I could never do with Geno or Tebow.

But it is a fact that he has as strong of an arm, is more accurate, has a quicker release, is more athletic, is more mobile, is tougher and is more of a leader. He's a better pure QB. If he's dogshit, then what does that make Hack? Dogshit that's been eaten by another dog then shat out again? _

Can't throw it deep without putting a ton of air under it, when he tries to put zip on the ball he misses his target by a mile, and as far as being a leader, not sure you can say anything definitive based on what we have seen.
