I don't find any of this sad. I find this all completely necessary. The only thing sad is we didn't do it 2 years ago like they should have. Agreed. People wanted a rebuild, THIS is what a real rebuild looks like. With carry over cap money the Jets should have around 75 million in cap space next year. I just hope Mac and Bowles are not the two people who will be conducting the rebuild. I'm hoping neither of them survives after this season.

The Jets have made me such a pessimist. I got excited thinking that we might out tank the Browns, but then it hit me. With the Jets luck we'll beat them on a blown coverage by Pryor. Browns go 0-16, we go 1-15. They draft the next Peyton Manning, and we draft the next Ryan Leaf.

The emphasis has been on the "re" but not the "build." You can dump salary and old guys but you still need veteran leadership to build up the young guys. If you want guys like WRs Steward and Hansen to be ready for leading roles in 2018 or 2019 who is going to show them that? Jalin Marshall? Charone Peake? I like Enunwa but he's still a young pup too. Harris and Decker were both good character guys with leadership and mentoring ability. I would have held on to both of them in a rebuilding year with the emphasis on building towards the future. It's the same reason we have McCown and not Jay Cutler or Colin Kaepernick. We want mentors and leaders that would hopefully allow guys like Darron Lee, Stewart, Hansen, Petty, Hack to learn something. I'm all in on the rebuild. (See my sig) But these moves IMO hurt the potential for the team to be better in 2018 and 2019. Just my two cents.

We're already closing in on 50 years of futility.

Let the coaches do their jobs and if a kid can play, he will be a player regardless if some vet is there or not.

My only hope is Woody pulls off another knee jerk reaction after the season and sends these two losers packing. He's already done it several times where he assured a coach they were coming back and then shitcanned them, so there is precedent.....and at least a little hope for us fans.

Things would have to go really off the rails for them to not come back. Not just losses but complete anarchy in the locker room.

As soon as Harris was gone, you knew this was a possibility.
MetLife will be a ghost town during a Jets games this year.

There is something to be said for experience, even if it's just watching practice habits, how a guy prepares, the nuances of the game of coverages. There's shit you get from talking with a fellow player and not just a coach while you're on the sideline. I'm not saying you need a ton of those guys.....but you can't be completely devoid of them.
