Lith, I'm disappointed you didn't post an Onzy Elam or Joe Kelly pics. Feel free to add your own pics to the Countdown. I am only using college numbers / draft position this year. Even though Kelly wore #58 for the Jets-- he was the 11th pick in the draft and he did not wear 58 in college -- found one pic where it looks like he is wearing 56. Elam was 75th pick in the draft, he wore #52 with the Jets, and I have no idea what # he wore at Tennessee State.

I must have Elam mixed up with some other obscure sucky LBer... maybe Basil Proctor?!

As for the 59th pick, only once in their history have the Jets selected at 59. We have to go way back to 1963, when the Jets selected Dartmouth QB Bill King with the 59th overall pick in the AFL draft: Bill never played for the Jets. Instead, he accepted a teaching job in Athens, Greece upon graduation before going on to law school at the University of Virginia. GOOD I HATE IVY LEAGUE QUARTERBACKS

Day 57...Twice the Jets have drafted at 57 overall, and 57 has not been a bad draft position for the Jets. In 2005, with the 57th pick, the Jets selected CB Justin Miller, Clemson.

And 3 years earlier, with the 57th pick in the 2002 draft, the Jets selected DB Jon Mcgraw, Kansas State

And although he was taken with the 63rd pick in 1991, Georgia LB Mo Lewis deserves a spot on day 57 in our countdown.

I'll accept 57 as a win. (61, 57)
That drops our loser percentage to 0.600.

8 more Sundays;56 days to kickoff With the 56th pick in the 1998 NFL draft, the Jets selected Dorian Boose, DE, Washington State Boose played 3 season with the Jets, without ever starting a game. He also played one season with the Redskins before heading north ending his playing career with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. Sadly, Dorian took his own life last year after reportedly being homeless for several years in Canada. RIP, Dorian.

The Jets also picked at #56 in the 1990 NFL draft and selected Tony Stargell, DB, Tennessee State. Stargell started all 16 games in his rookie season, but never lived up to the expectations of a 2nd round pick. He would only play one ore season with the Jets -- playing for a total of 5 teams in an 8 year career as a back-up DB.

The Jets did have some success with a #56 out of college when they drafted this guy out of Penn State in the 3rd Round (#69 overall) in 1980.

You should cross post this in the thread about bugs looking like leafs.
