And, 10 years later, the Jets earned the 2nd pick with a 4-12 record. No need to trade up this year. Actually, the Jets caught a bit of a break in the draft that year when the Cowboys, owners of a 1-15 recoord, had given up their first round pick to select Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft, so the Jets picked at #2 instead of #3. And, with the 2nd overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Blair Thomas, RB, Penn State. Thomas is the last RB that the Jets have selected in the first round. 27 years ago. In his 4 seasons as a Jet, Thomas rushed for 2,009 yards. 7 men have rushed for over 2,000 yards in a single season. It took Blair 4. As for the Cowboys, who gave up #1 overall, they did okay. They used a first round pick they acquired from Minnesota to move up to 17 and select Emmitt Smith, who only outrushed Blair Thomas by about 16,000 yards in his NFL career. Smith scored 164 TDs in his NFL career. Thomas had 7. Day 2 sucks. he was never going to be great, but he could have had a decent career. but that fumble on mnf against the bears seemed to mindfuck him more than he could handle. that one play, and it was over, johnny.

Day 1Finally made it through this fucking countdown. 60 days of mostly failed picks, draft busts, and kick in the nuts memories. But at least we have made it to number 1. Twice in their history, the Jets have selected #1 overall in the draft. Both of those times, we had our eye on a franchise QB. One who would turn around the fortunes of his team. One time, that franchise QB decided to stay in school one more year. The other time, in 1965, we selected this guy. And with the first overall pick in the 1965 AFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Joe Namath, QB Alabama: Joe was one of 4 QBs that we selected in 1965. And since then, we have selected 25 more QBs in the draft, but none have come close to the success that Joe led the team to. Since 1965. 52 years ago, the Jets have been defined more by the guys they didn't get rather than the guys they did. Passing over Marino in 83. Missing out on Favre by 1 pick. Manning staying in school. Please, Jets. Don't fuck it up this time. After 53 years, the 2017 season &/or 2018 draft has got to be the time we get it right again.

Let's not get testes here, we're all on the same team.
Well, not the same team but the same team.
