And, our worst pick at #9 came 4 years ago, courtesy of everyone's favoriate GM, John Idzik, when he selected Alabama CB Dee Milliner 9th overall in 2013. Not a good omen for a GM when a guy like Milliner is the first pick you ever make. At least Brady, while not worthy of the 9 overall pick, had a 13 year NFL career. Milliner, due to a combination of injury and ineffectiveness, was out of the league in just 3 seasons.

Day 8With the 8th pick in the 1997 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected James Farrior, LB, Virginia. Farrior went on to have a 15 year NFL career. However, his best seasons all came after he signed a free agent contract with the Steelers prior to the 2002 season.

And, with the 8th pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Dave Cadigan, OT, USC. Cadigan was limited by injury and ultimately converted to guard where he played 6 seasons with the Jets. He proudly holds a spot on Reign of Troy's list of the Top 25 draft busts in USC history (#23). Another member of that list will be on the countdown in a couple of days.

Day 7In the history of the NY Jets and NY Titans, they have never had the 7th overall pick in the draft. Makes for a tough day today. Since there is no #7 overall for the countdown, here are a couple of 7th round picks that turned out to be pretty good Jets. Super Bowl Champ, DT John Elliott, was a 7th round pick in the 1967 draft:

And Abdul Salaam, DT, Kent State was also selected in the 7th round.

And, on the current roster (assuming he makes it through the day). 7th round pick from 2016, WR Charone Peake, Clemson

Day 6Interesting day, Day 6. It has been the best of days, and it has been the worst of days. 6 times the Jets have drafted at #6 overall. The last Hall of Fame player to be drafted by the Jets and the best player on the current roster were taken 6th, as were a couple of all time draft busts. In 1971, with the 6th pick in the NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected John Riggins, RB Kansas Yup, it has been 46 years since the Jets have drafted a Hall of Fame talent (although Revis/Mangold may change that in a few years). Riggins had some nice years as a Jet, but really built has Hall of Fame resume after he left for Washington -- especially during two consecutive postseason runs to the Super Bowl with the Skins in the early 80s.

And, on to the draft busts. In 1974, picking 6, the Jets selected DT Carl Barzilauskas, Indiana. Carl played 4 seasons with the Jets on some awful teams in the mid 70s.

And finally, in 2008 the Jets selected DE Vernon Gholston from Ohio State.

Day 5Day 5 of the countdown. Only once have the Jets ever picked at #5 in the NFL Draft. And with the 5th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Mark Sanchez, QB, USC. The Titans did pick twice in the AFL Draft, selecting G Tom Brown from Minnesota in 1961 and QB Sandy Stephens, also from Minnesota in 1962. Neither man ever played in the NFL.
