Day 46...Finally. Day 46. A good day in the countdown. 2 picks at 46. 2 hits no misses. With the 46th pick in the 1966 AFL Draft, the New York Jets selected Emerson Boozer, RB, Maryland-Eastern Shore

And, 4 years later, in the 1970 NFL Draft, the Jets selected TE Rich Caster, Jackson State. Could not find any pics of him from Jackson State, so this will have to do. 2 of my favorite Jets as a kid. Both picked at 46 in the draft. Maybe part of our problem is that it has been too long since we picked at 46,

Day 45...The New York Jets have never selected at #45 in the draft. The NY Titans, however, selected at 45 twice, in 1961 & 1962. With the 45th pick in the 1961 AFL Draft, the NY Titans selected Bill Brown, RB, Illinois. Brown would go on to have a solid pro career, just not with the Titans or Jets. He was also drafted by the Chicago Bears and chose to sign with them. He played 14 years with the Vikings and Bears and was a 4 time Pro Bowler with Minnesota, rushing for over 5,800 yards in his career.

And with the 45th pick in the 1962 AFL Draft, the NY Titans selected Mel Melin, QB, Washington State. Melin never played in the AFL/NFL, although he did have a 4-year career as a back-up with the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League. And they could not even spell his name right on his football card in college. Melin is the correct spelling -- the card has it wrong.

Day 44...The Jets have not selected 44th in the draft since 1968. With the 44th pick in the 1968 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Steve Thompson, DT, Washington Steve played 6 seasons with the Jets in mostly a back-up role along the defensive line.

The Jets also selected 44th 3 years earlier in the 1965 AFL Draft, selecting Don Hoovler, LB, Ohio in the 6th round. Hoovler never played pro football. Only reference I could find to a Don Hoovler is a financial planner in Ohio, seemed to be about the right age, so it could be the same guy. I never realized when I got the idea for this countdown based on draft position just how many obscure/unknown players would be part of the countdown.
Day 43 will be better (and worse)...

It's the Jets. Of course there'd be a ton of nobody's....

He resembles Rick Lyle without the stache. crazy about picking 44th; that is weird.

Day 43Day 43...An All Time Jet, an All Time Bust, and a who the fuck was he? The Jets have picked 43rd 3 times in their history. In 1964, they had the 43rd pick in the AFL Draft, a 6th rounder. And with the 43rd pick in the 1964 AFL Draft, the Jets selected Ralph Baker, LB, Penn State.

A year earlier, in 1963, they also had the 43rd pick, selecting Jim Price, C - LB, Auburn. Price was a two way player in college, but stuck with linebacker for two seasons in the AFL as a back-up B for the Jets and Broncos.

And now, the all time bust. With the 43rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the NY Jets selected Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech.
