Lith, I thought it was this guy... Yeah, thats what I thought, but I was going with draft position #43, and not college #43. Besides, while I am not overly optimistic after Lee's first season, it would be way too premature to call him a bust.

And now, the all time bust. With the 43rd pick in the 2012 NFL Draft the NY Jets selected Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech. A bust for sure but not anywhere near the biggest. That's reserved for The Ghost. Number 6 pick to never have recorded 1 sack, 1 forced fumble or recovered fumble and totaled less than 20 career tackles. I don't believe any of them were for a loss. The absolute biggest bust ever. _

And we needed a rush OLB/DE. _

A 6th overall pick who never made any type of impact vs a 2nd rounder who at least made a couple of plays here and there. Didn't mean to make it sound like I was calling Hill the biggest Jets draft bust ever, but still a bust.

Day 42...Day 42. A bittersweet day in Jet draft history. It was with the 42nd pick that we took a man who has become a Jet legend more for his inspirational, but much too short, life off the field. With the 42nd pick in the 1989 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Dennis Byrd, DL, Tulsa Rest in peace, Dennis.

Other picks at 42 overall include Kurt Barber, LB, USC in 1992:

The Jets also selected at 42 in 1987. They selected Alex Gordon, LB out of Cincinnati. Could not find any pics of him at Cincinnati, so here is one as a Jet.

I think most against Michigan if I remember correctly. Although my memory is short. _

Day 44...The Jets have not selected 44th in the draft since 1968. With the 44th pick in the 1968 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Steve Thompson, DT, Washington Steve played 6 seasons with the Jets in mostly a back-up role along the defensive line. While we are in the parlor, here...I keep thinking back to the DLine Herm installed. Abraham and Ellis outside with 6'6" Lyle and 6'6" whatwashisname playing DT. I think Jason Ferguson was in the doghouse. Steve Thompson reminds me of those guys

Day 41...With the 41st pick in the 1979 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Mark Gastineau, DE, East Central Oklahoma State For about 4 or 5 years, as dominant a defensive player as the Jets have ever had.
