To continue to win useless games while not developing the young Qb talent. All for worthless fucking W's. 39 year old McCown under center next year. There are no QBs on the roster to develop. sadly it looks more and more likely..but with my job on the line I would have stayed with McGowen too..

Todd Bowles is the personification of the New York Jets. Enough to get by but never enough to get over the hump. yeah, what a bum, loser. His shitty career of making the Redskins as an undrafted free agent, becoming a starter in his second year, winning a superbowl, and going on to an 8 year NFL career with 82 starts and then becoming a top co-ordinator in the NFL winning assistant coach of the year running the D for an O-minded Bruce Arians is indicative of a guy who just can't close the deal. The problem with a lot of Jet fans is that they have no idea what a winner looks like.

The problem with a lot of Jet fans is that they have no idea what a winner looks like. He's done a fine job this season ... with an essentially young team, an a number of contributing veterans. It's up to Maccagnan to continue to improve the roster. Yes, Bowles was surprising so far this year, and he is best case head coach for the Jets in the immediate future. These final games will be interesting ... especially the last three. The Saints and Chargers should be playing for post season positions, and the Patriots are always an important match-up.

Barring an epic change - on the scale of the anti-Mangini player revolt or Herm's lobbying for someone else to hire him - there is no way Bowles is fired.
He has had his team ready to play every week, and they have massively exceeded all expectations. It's not so long ago that people expected this team to be winless.
His off-season changes to the coaching staff have also paid huge dividends.
Bowles is going to be back in 2018, and he deserves to be.

The problem with a lot of Jet fans is that they have no idea what a winner looks like. I was referring to his coaching career with the Jets. There are tons of great players and coordinators that never made it. We know what winners look like from watching other franchises win and know when to cut the cord. Giants will clean house this year and get a future QB. We will have Todd Bowles and an offseason that resembles 2016, debating whether we should try to make the playoffs with a bum QB who somehow had a career year with us the year before. How many times do you need to see this movie? Give Bowles credit for the team not quitting (can't believe we can't take for granted millionaires putting in effort) on him but how many games have we've blown? Where has Bowles grown?

Not good enough to contend, not bad enough to get what we need. The cycle continues.

He is still not a great game-day coach, but he clearly has the respect of his team. Unless there is an end-of-season collapse, Bowles is here in 2018 at least.

Bowles did well this season. Can make a case for him improving player performances each week. And this was supplemented by Maccagnan's drafting and off season player moves. So what's next? The draft and the off season moves prior to next season. This is to say that next season will be the time to evaluate head coach Bowles. Granted, the QB issue is significant. But look what he's done with this journeyman.
