Seriously choon328, do me a favor and just drop it. Lol, we'll just agree to disagree I guess. Nothing personal Have a good night fellow Jets fan. Thank you. Nevermind that I responded to you already. Because I really don't feel like arguing this anymore. It's giving me a headache. That said, I admire your conviction and persistence. Carry on.

Just for some perspective, if Coples' 5th year is picked up he will be paid approx 7.5 million dollars, that puts him right at the 15th highest paid DE in the league. Sorry, but Coples hasn't shown anything that warrants that kind of money. Again, it would be more prudent to see what he actually does in a 4-3 before you go committing decent money to him. I agree, that's over paying him... today. That could easily change in a year. The thing is, if he blows up in this new coaches system, there's no way we're be able to resign him and we'll be wishing we could have him for 7-8 million. I think it's worth the gamble. We spent the pick, we invested the time, i'm OK with an extra 3 mill his way and going all in on Coples. I truly believe the upside is worth it. If the light turns on, to me, he's got a higher ceiling that both Mo and Richardson. I'm in the same boat regarding Coples. Worst case scenario we overpay him for one year, he flops, and then we let him walk. That is not something that is going too cripple the franchise or bring any heat on the new GM because the investment is short term. Coples is the one player I am sure will turn into a star if he is ever used correctly. Let him get back to his natural playing weight of around 290-300 and you can play him all over the line in a 4-3. Coples as a 275lb. OLB has been a disaster and that is 100% on Rex.

Harrison could definitely play on a 4 man line.
Look at Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa on that 2000 Ravens squad. Two interior DL that each weighed 340+.
Or look at Vince Wilfork's fatass who is a helluva lot closer to 400 than his listed weight of 325. The Pats** have been running way more base 4-3 over the past few years.
Hell, Dan Quinn actually had a 340 lb Red Bryant playing DE in a base 4-3 alignment last year and the move helped resurrect his career.
It wouldn't be a bad thing at all to have a bigass NT like Snacks eating up multiple blockers next to Richardson.

One of the few things called Boston I can stand.

At no point has he been a down lineman who's job was to rush the passer. Either he was a 3-4 DE (first year) or he was a pass rushing OLB. I say pick it up and see how he plays in a 4-3 as pass rusher with his hand in the ground. 5-6 sacks for a 3-4 DE is pretty good, and he sucks as an OLB. But that makes sense considering his natural playing weight is around 275-280.

At least from what other 4-3s in the league are running. I personally think Snacks COULD play in a 4-3 but that adding a Jerry Hughes and keeping Wilk/Rich in the middle would be a lot more dynamic. I have faith in those interior DL to stuff the run, and good luck keeping a clean pocket against those 4. Additionally, outside of Hughes you could swap any of the others position-wise which would create a lot of confusion/mismatches.
