Given how coy Maccagnan usually is about these things, I have serious doubts about the Allen reports.

IT's not my evaluation of him -- frankly, I've never seen him play and his stats don't pop, but even Walter Football has him ranked as the #4 QB behind only Jackson, Darnold, and Rosen. These are the guys that scare me. _ I watched some tape on Thorson, I think he is a backup at the pro level.

Jets mock off season Current available cap space: $63,000,000 Cuts & Restructures: Mo Wilkerson (restructure) – Is he dominant? No (he never really was). But at 9-10 million a year for the next 2 years, I can live with it. If we cut him, its just going to create another hole. Plus, he has been turning it around lately. Buster Skrine (cut) Ben Ijalana (cut) Matt Forte (cut) Devin Smith (cut) Cap space available: $88,000,000.00 Extensions Josh McCown – 6 million for 1 year Kony Ealy - 7 million a year for 3 years Quincy Enunwa – 8.5 million a year for multiple years ASJ – 6.5 million a year for multiple years Demario Davis – 5 million a year for 2 years Cap space left: $52,000,000 Weston Richburg – 6.5 million (Keep the local guy in town. Still very young and talented) Malcolm Butler – 10 million per year (Still young and a good way to weaken to Patriots at the same time) A JAG CB that is going to cost 2-3 million per year (We will need another vet back there) Cap space left – 35,500,000 Mock Draft Jets are going to trade up from somewhere between the 10th to 12th pick in the first round (where I think they will end up) to number 2 (they swap with the 49ers) Jets send 2018 1st Round Pick, 3rd Round Pick, 4th Round Pick 2019 1st Round Pick, 3rd Round Pick Jets get San Francisco 1st Round Pick (#2 overall) and 4th Round Pick (2019) 2019 Pick 1st Round – Josh Rosen (QB) UCLA – There have been constant rumors about the Jets scouting UCLA games this year and I think this is Maccagnan’s guy. Macc goes big and gets his guy at the top of the draft. Jets franchise will revolve around Rosen and Jamal Adams for the next 10 years. 2nd Round Pick – Martinas Rankin (OT) Mississipi State 2nd Round Pick (Seattle Pick) Rashaad Penny (RB) San Diego State University Who is going number 1 to Cleveland? Is this assuming Darnold comes out? And Cleveland takes him? What if Darnold stays? That would suck. But yeah, I do that deal for Rosen. And the OT 100%. _ At the end of the day? I think Cleveland is going to pick Lamar Jackson at number 1. That's not what I would do, but after Michael Vick and Cam Newton, I've seen enough occasions of the super athlete QB going number 1. In 2012, there was even talk at some point about RG3 leaping Luck (it was obviously foolish, but the fact that it was even brought up says a lot). Lamar Jackson is being underrated. At the end of the day, he is going to blow up the combine, put up monster stats the last 2 years and he has improved as a pocket passer.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the cuts.. but i'd pass on throwing that money an at Quincy. He's gonna be playing for a 1-year prove it deal, here or elsewhere... if he fully recovers First 2 picks are no-brainers. Not crazy about Penny, but that's limited exposure on my end. Honestly, I struggled with figuring out what I wanted to pay Enunwa. I feel like the team has some wiggle room with being cheap on the extension because of the injury, but the team has to protect itself at the same time. I would like to get more than a year out of the deal. How much do you think we should pay him? Penny can ball, you have to watch some of the video on him.

I think the top 4, in no particular order, are Rosen, Darnold, Jackson and Mayfield. Honestly, I'm fine with any of them. However, as long as we are picking no deeper than 10-12, I think Maccagnan is going to trade up for Rosen. I have no insight from the team, but there have been a couple of reports this year of Jets scouting UCLA games.
2 years ago, the Eagles traded 2 number one picks, 2 number 3 picks and a number 4 pick to trade into the number 2 spot so they could take Wentz (Philly also received a number 4 pick). Would you be willing to do that for Rosen or Darnold? I think I'd be ok with it.

I like the move. Robinson had good tape coming out and is a good fit for Bowles press cover system.

Now its time to pray that Cleveland decides to sign Cousins so that they can take Barkley number 1 overall (which would actually be a decent move since he is the best player in the draft).

I'm disappointed that I talked myself out of Watson last year. While there was always some concern for him as an NFL Qb - I allowed that totally eclipse x factor, or the "winner" or gamer gene that he has. Jackson can do the same for a team in the NFL. I don't know how sustainable his success will be, or how quickly injuries/age can effect his longevity -- but he can elevate an Offense instantly. Also, i'm pretty much housed over at JN these days for draft talk. I love you bastards, but there's only a couple of us left. It's like an empty merry-go-round in dilapidated neighborhood playground. Yeah the "winner" thing has always bugged me, I'm more interested in arm talent and guys always looking downfield. I'm just wondering if Jackson is a blacker Mariota, or a much more talented Geno without the douchebaggery. I can't go back to JN, can't stand junc. _ junc was back with us at JI wasn't he?

I left that game with two (what I view as indisputable) truths. First, after Morris Claiborne, the Jets do not have an NFL quality CB on their roster. Second, we got our first glimpse of the real Josh McCown -- great guy, good leader, decent passer, capable of making mind boggling errors. This is why he is not, and has never really been considered, a starting quality QB by any NFL evalautor. So, the TANK is back on. Home vs ATL, BUF, CAR, KC, and SD; Away vs TB, DEN, NO, NE. Where are the wins? Ryan, Newton, Smith, Rivers, Winston, and Brees are better than Matt Moore and all have decent enough receiving corps that there will be open WRs all over the field. My money is on the Jets being shut out in Denver. So, home verse Buffalo? Maybe. The final game in NE is possible, but it is in NE and the game may be meaningful to the Pats for playoff position. So, I'm hoping for a string of losses in nobly contested games lost as a result of a QB prone to brain fart errors and CB's incapable of .... well, playing cornerback. I'm going to start looking into tickets for the NFL draft. This teams needs.... shit, we long suffering Jets Fans deserve, a franchise QB. I agree with most of what you are saying, but I think Daryl Roberts is developing into a decent CB. Burris has been buried on the depth chart after the Oakland game, but I would not mind him getting a shot. I also like Derrick Jones potential. Buster Skrine can teach cardio kickboxing for the rest of the year as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, as much as I like Wentz, a non FCS QB with less than 2 full seasons of starting experience is not going 2 overall. Yeah, this guy is a fucking idiot.

San Francisco & Kirk Cousins may be a thing Never underestimate the Browns ability to do something unexpected, like selecting Lamar Jackson number 1. lol folks thinking Kizer was the answer. He sucked at ND, why would anyone think he'd be good in the NFL? _ I also thought Kizer sucked, reminded me a lot of Geno Smith. I think the Browns are definitely going QB in round 1.

At the beginning of the season, I automatically discounted Mayfield because of the height and system. But watching him this year? He's impressive. I think the Wilson comparisons may be warranted. I discounted him completely because of his height and because the 5 guys we were all watching were all 6-4 or 6-5. But I gotta say, he looks like a player. Gotta watch him more and see how much arm talent he had. _ You discounted him because of his height? The irony ..... I think Mayfield has just as much arm strength as Rosen or Darnold to be honest with you. All 3 are below Allen and Jackson. One other thing to consider about Mayfield is the John Morton factor. Morton came from New Orleans, who succeeds with a short QB in Brees. Morton may be able to work around Mayfield's height.
