Is it too early for a 2017 Jets mock draft?

May this thread be a place to discuss prospects you like (naturally) but also feel is a realistic/good fit for the Jets. In other words, Myles Garret doesn't belong in here. I'll kick it off by saying Nick Fucking Chubb. I watched his game last night vs UNC on draft breakdown (those boys are getting after it early this year) and came away not only thinking he's got his mojo back, but that guy is going to kill in the NFL. Frank Gore v2.0? I think he's an early candidate to my favorite for Rnd 2. Early to say how things shake out with some of the other offensive playmakers but my gut says Fournette and Cook go round 1. You think Chubb is going to last until round 2? Depending upon what he runs, I can see him go in the first round. The strengths of this draft are RB, CB, Edge Rusher and TE. Jets could use help in all those areas.

Guys, the other team gets paid as well. Cincinatti has a good offense with a lot of talented players. We aren't going to pitch a shutout every week.

From what I have read, Watkins decision to play will be based upon his pain tolerance. Even if he does play, I'm not expecting to see the same guy that lit us up last year in week 17.

How's this for poetic justice: After seeing Darelle Revis hold NFL franchises hostage over his salary demands throughout his career, this offseason, we get to see him squirm as the Jets will likely threaten to cut him if he does not restructure his deal. He is not playing at a $16 million per year caliber anymore and he shouldn't be paid as if he is.

The Bengals, from top to bottom, have one of the most talented teams in the league, so I'm not terribly heart broken about yesterday's loss. I think with some work on the coverages the team employs on D and play calls within the red zone on offense, we should be fine. I'm almost more disappointed the Pats won without Brady and Gronk.

What a crazy game. I shut off the game towards the end of the second quarter to watch Narcos season 2. I couldn't believe the score when I woke up this morning. As far as Cook slowing down to gain weight, if that helps him drop to the Jets pick next April, I'm cool with it

One RB that isn't getting a lot of attention (yet) is Joe Mixon from Oklahoma. I was watching his tape and the kid is very talented.

Look, I hope they can get the kid straightened out, but honestly, that was as bad a QB performance for the team as I can remember. I don't even know if you can blame all the inaccuracy on his mechanics, it was absolutely dreadful.

There WILL be an OT worth drafting no matter where we draft and we need one, unless we can draft a QB. Rb will be available in the second but we need too pull that trigger early.... I know you won't agree, but OT (or any Oline position) is firmly on the "if there's nothing else" branch of the decision tree for me. In today's NFL, there's no other position that's easier to fill, than on the line. I mean we literally swapped out pro-bowl LTs via average trade with DEN this year... That's not to say one should rely on FA and trades - but there's simply no other position that you can you routinely address in that manner, like you can the Oline. The top 20% at their respective positions don't leave the teams that drafted them, except on the Oline... and to an extent, Dline as well. Just this past year, we saw Clady, Beachum, Ben Jones, Okung, Mack all move around. Those are big names. I mean, Logan Mankins is still at the top of food chain and he's on his 3rd team? And to take that one step further, signing a top tier Tackle, isn't nearly as expensive as signing a top tier CB, DE, WR, QB, etc.. Any way, long winded way of saying that if there's a lot people i think should ahead of Oline on the grocery this spring. Our RBs are aged, WRs too -- and TEs none-existent. Dude, at this stage, I'll settle for a center in the first round as long as its an offensive player.

I actually like our young talent at WR, but we don't have a lot of youth in the backfield. But who are we all kidding, we will probably go defense again in round 1 and disappointing offensive player again in round 2, its the Jet way. God you're annoying as fuck, shut up. Thanks, I hadn't been around for a while, but it's nice to be welcomed with open arms again. They did a hell of a job of capturing your likeness with your avatar.

We do need to go offense, but I really don't like any position outside of RB right now. Also we signed Forte so I'm not counting on us drafting a 1st or 2nd round RB which will suck. We'll finally take a WR or OL in a weakish WR/OL draft. It's bullshit. I think the Forte signing will be a mistake because of his age and mileage. Absolutely no chance we should count on him the following year regardless of his production this year. There WILL be an OT worth drafting no matter where we draft and we need one, unless we can draft a QB. Rb will be available in the second but we need too pull that trigger early.....it's reminding me of the great WR draft where we waited and came away with Saunders and the UCLA guy. I see a bunch of names popping at the OT position right now and of course I'll start a thread much later. Last year I was eerily accurate when it came to that position so I can only see a dropoff in my predictions.. I haven't watched Cam Robinson's tape yet because I'm assuming we will play well enough to not be picking in the top 10. I watched Roderick Johnson's tape and, although he is physically impressive, his tape was pretty bad.

I'd be happy with either. Truthfully so would I... but I'd be tempted to forego either if we got sniff of Mike Williams. Any one of those 3 + OJ Howard in the second and I'll cum buckets. I actually like our young talent at WR, but we don't have a lot of youth in the backfield. But who are we all kidding, we will probably go defense again in round 1 and disappointing offensive player again in round 2, its the Jet way.

Worst case scenario, we can bomb the season and draft Cook. Fixed I'd be happy with either.

Coples is another example of coaching staffs continuing to outsmart themselves. Coples had a very good junior year as a DT and a so-so season as a DE. He would flash with the Jets whenever he actually did play DT, but Rex played him at other positions (including CB). Now, Coples is once again flashing playing his natural position (big shocker).
