Here you go:  But really some of my notes before the draft and he showed it tonight: Decent mobility Good arm Bad deep ball accuracy Below avg intermediate accuracy (Against MSU he was 08 with 1 INT) Reads the defense well when he has time Poor at throwing on the run ( I watched his MSU, Maryland, and Illinous tape at least 6 times and saw him complete maybe 2 throws on the run) Doesn't fumble despite taking a lot of sacks (Which is nice since we've had Sanchez and Geno) Really good at throwing comebacks Pretty good at stepping up in the pocket to avoid the rush Bad at identifying blitzers When the pressure comes up the middle he's a deer in the headlights and makes bad decisions instead of taking the sack (We saw that tonight on his pick 6 and he did the exact same thing against MSU) His pathetic 56.1% completions was buoyed by a lot of screens to WRs and RBs |

He had more yards in INT's returned against him than he did passing yards on 30 attempts.

He had more yards in INT's returned against him than he did passing yards on 30 attempts. I kind of want to watch it again, but I think 5-6 of his 11 completions were screens. Half of which were tackled for a loss. Take those away and he was like 5-6 out of 24-25. |

After he was 4 for 6 on the opening drive against the Giants, he finished 2 of his last 10. So going back to last week, he was about 13 of his last 40 with 3 picks. Thats not good. |

At this point I'm done about commenting on Hack until next season. If they IR Petty he will get some practice reps, so hopefully he looks competent next year. |

That what has been so frustrating about Hack going back to his PSU days. You know he is capable of making some great throws, but he is also capable of making craptastic mistakes. I like Mac and Bowles, but why did they have to hitch their future to Hack and Fitz. I doubt our 2017 starting QB is on our roster right now, and you don't get a long leash in the NFL. |

Looked green as hell from what I saw, as I expected he would all pre-season if he was going to see any action at all. He had that one really promising drive against the Giants and then it's basically been downhill.
Hack was a 2 year project from the get-go. And really, barring the occasional exception, so are the majority of QB's taken after the 1st round.
I sure as shit wouldn't put all of my eggs in the Hackenberg basket moving forward, but is there really any question as to whether he has the highest upside of any QB on the roster at the moment?
Next years QB crop in the draft looks like shit outside of maybe Watson, who is a phenomenal college QB, but I'm not even completely sold on at the pro level. Who else? Kaaya? Mayfield? Kelly?

This is a kid who is 3 years removed from being the top HS recruit in the nation and is 2 years removed from being hailed as the next college phenom before O'Brien upgraded to the pros and Penn State replaced him with a fuckhead like Franklin who was hellbent on some gimmicky spread BS. You can sit Hack on the bench until 2018 and he'd still only be 23 years old. With his kind of upside, leadership qualities, and raw physical skill...he's worth keeping around for another season or two and then gauging what you have. |

I didn't see it at the college level, but I guess give him at least another season before sealing the deal on him.
If he was a 4th round pick, it would make a lot more sense. That being said, just because he was taken 2 rounds earlier than he probably shoul have been isn't real reason for everyone to jump off a roof. Yeah, they reached, but they did so at the most important position in sports, in a prospect that indeed at one point, did show tremendous promise. Most of our 2nd rounders bust anyway, whatever, it was worth a shot, and still could prove good in a year or so.
