It could be worse, we could have traded what the Rams did for Goff and ended up with a player who hasn't looked much better than Hack. This is true. I might be more concerned had we sold half of NY for Goff - whom I was pretty vocal about not trusting. But looking at the 101 different scenarios is rather moot. Looking specifically at Hackenberg is still puzzling however for a variety of reasons.

When he's fired this will be a big reason.

So...sifting thru all the posts, what Im taking away is that Hack is gonna need a lot of work but has the tools. Or Hack is a piece of $hit who will never amount to anything and McCagnan is no better than Idzik for wasting a 2nd rounder.
Clear as mud.

I think it's telling that the posters that actually watch college football and have seen him play multiple times have the same thoughts when it comes to Hackenberg the pick, and Hackenberg the player. With the exception of UT, none of the posters that watch college ball liked him, especially as a second rounder. That's quite the tall order because we are always going back and forth on players. Then you have another group that loves every single move the Jets make, like the Jets, of all teams can do no wrong. Those are normally the same people that end up hating the same things they loved and fought for on this board in a few years. Idzik is the perfect example. He's doing a great job, he knows more, thank god we have Idzik. Three years later they bash the shit out of the guy....he's a moron, the worst GM ever. I don't put much stock in that type. Then you have the one asshole that hates every single move the Jets make and constantly bashes the franchise. I have no idea why that person even posts on a Jets MB.

Hackenberg looked as advertised last night; a mess. Anyone expecting that to change after a couple months in shorts this summer, should check their hopes at the door. Developing a QB though, is entirely different than fixing one. I don't know what the success rate is on the latter, but it can't be good. This will shock none of you, but I have concerns with Macc on this one. You & your scouting department spend all year assessing and analyzing QBs -- and you walked away with Hack? Thats what you and your crack-squad of fucking QB gurus came up with?? It's not like we have Palmer or Rivers leading the charge. We needed to draft the franchise now. I'm sure Darron Lee will end up being a good LBer for us, but he'd need to be the next Ray Lewis to justify passing on Lynch for example. That's bullshit. For the record..I liked Lynch, Hack and Prescott coming out. None of them have done SQUAT yet!? its fucking preseason. I know personally watching Grudens QB camp, I liked Lynch as an athlete..But didn't see the personality for N.Y. he seemed immature..plus only started one year. Prescott was very interesting..but seemed to struggle with shit Chuckie threw at him on the field..reminded me too much of a poor mans Russel Wilson? Btw all three were projected as projects..by everybody! Hack seemed to have a sureness about himself..almost cocky..and was Def the most heady of all the Qbs.. Proto type size..more experience in a pro system...and just turned twenty years old..Thats what Mac saw. IMHO..Goff and Wentz weren't even first rounders...everybody said it was a week crop this year. Every QB was a reach...that's how it goes. Btw..being psyched ..and hoping we'd draft a QB, I watched a lot of youtube on these guys...good and bad..not just highlites. I don't know how to look up old posts but theyre in there.. im pretty sure I called hack a few days before the draft?

Thanks for sharing. On one hand, you're right in that they were all considered unpolished products. There was always going to be some learning curves for this batch... on the other hand, you're talking to the guy who slaved over tape on all of them and wrote about them. Not saying it's gonna land me a job on Joe Dick's draft guide - but I do know what i'm talking about. And apparently you don't. Lynch only started for 1 year? /end discussion.

Are you really gonna take your ball and go home? Lol Really that upset that I might have been mistaken ..over how long a rookie played ? How long did he start for? And please bestow upon this wisdom you have on game tape and writing? And before you say you've ended the discussion, try having one? I gave my view and opinion....are you gonna hold your breath till you turn blue? C'moooon Maaaan!?

Why does this dumb board multi quote automatically. Para you know Im not talking about you buddy. I just highlight who I want to quote so the quick quote button pops up. Otherwise you get that long ass quote chain. Also JetRepulsion was from scout I believe. He's probably negative cause he had to fight with HYATTtm all the time.

I don't know this was a duel. Forgive me for sounding a little snooty - but if you don't know long Lynch started in Memphis, then it's kind of hard to take your "draft prospect analysis" as anything more than cocktail conversation. you're free to disagree with me on these guys though; newyorkjetshampur.com/thread/5115/ranking-qbs-long-read-coffee
