I've always wondered, prior to Tom Brady, were the Dolphins widely considered the Jets main Rival or has it always been New England? Serious question, how old are you. It was always the Dolphins. i think i'd go with the doltfins and ive been waiting since 69 for another superbowl. the doltfins had those great 70's and even 80's while the jets were floundering and then there's the matter of the mud bowl plus obrien being picked before marino. and who can forget the spike game or the monday night miracle. as for the patsies they were always self destructing before parcells took them over and kraft bought them. even though they had some success getting to the post season under chuck fairbanks and then ray berry they also had such coaching stalwarts as ron erhardt, ron meyer, dick mcpherson, etc. and they also suffered through their fair share of qb issues until brady came along. so maybe the doltfins are the main rival given the longer history.

how can you not get excited for a jets-doltfins game is beyond me. the doltfins are the jets most hated rival after the patsies and it's usually a good game and jets win.

They vilify him for bad draft picks like Vlad Ducasse, Mark Sanchez, Stephen Hill and Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson and rightly so. Tanny was a middle of the pack GM, he whiffed on picks as much as he hit and gave Sanchez that ridiculous extension. You can only judge Idzik on a small sample of work and Macc has yet to be determined having only had 2 drafts although it's not looking great right now. In my book they are all as bad as each other until we see results on the field and end this playoff drought Every GM that was here as long as Tanny will have bad picks, it's the nature of the beast. I'm not sticking up for him and I was glad to see him go but in the end but he was the most successful GM the Jets have had in the modern era. It's sad but so is the life of being a Jets fan. the thing is when tanny was coupled with rex it was hard to tell who the boss was. it could very well be that rex had a lot of input into the draft when it really should have been up to tanny and the scouts. the same thing with idzik and rex. imo mangini pretty competent when it came to getting players.

he doesn't really make sense for either the Browns, or the Jets given the downside you mention of him being a FA soon. Neither team has any playoff hopes so why not just wait till he's a FA? Maybe they do pursue him in FA. Does having him on the roster now give the Browns some kind of advantage in signing him next season? Kind of a head scratcher if not. Plus they gave away that conditional pick Do the Browns need a DE more than a LB? Obviously the Jets have great need for someone like him. Bill would never have traded him to us obviously. That was a stupid trade by the Browns. it shows how the patsies can manage their team. they launch the unmanageable players (not that collins was a problem but would've been difficult to sign) for draft picks and then grab lots of very good players. it works better than we want to believe and also demonstrates why trading richardson isn't out of the question.

revis should be hof. 7 time pro bowler. and he hasn't had the luxury of transitioning to safety like ronnie lott or ron woodson. i don't know of many corners who could play at such a high level past 30. maybe deion or charles woodson. and this is the wide receiver era. they're much bigger and faster, almost overnight.

those 70's teams were really sucky. the giants went on to trade tarkenton and ron johnson just never panned out. he was good but could never stay on the field. the jets? just a downward spiral to oblivion until michaels took over.

here's a trade deal idea. trade richardson to the browns for collins and picks. collins was just traded there from the patsies and is kind of a freakish athlete who can play on the line and at lb. he wants a pay day probably why the patsies traded him for a third rounder. the downside is he will be a free agent this season.

Both Qbs haven't even played yet (that'll change soon). Devin Smith has yet to play with a QB that can actually compliment his talent. Mac is far from any blame with this team. Okay, I'll buy that for a little while. But there's a reason neither QB has played yet while multiple other rookie QBs (from 1st rounders like Wentz to late rounders like Siemian....and guys in the middle like Dak Prescott) are playing. I don't think it's a pat on the back to our QB selection process that Petty or Hack will SOON start playing simply because the other guy Macc got, 2016 Savior, has been trying to lose the job since Week 1. you know that jerry rice didn't make all of his yardage on go routes. he caught tons of crossing patterns and then outran the defense much like enunwas did against the ravens. and, frankly, smith could be more of the second coming of lam jones. it's not like he's caught all the passes thrown to him. imo jalin marshall may have willy pipped smith.

Surprisingly there are a lot of teams with the same or worse record than the Jets. Some have only played 7 games but still have only 3 wins - Bengals, Ravens, Browns, Colts, Jaguars, Chargers, Bears, Bucs, Saints, Panthers, Cardinals, Rams, 49'ers. Some of them were supposedly good teams, headed to the playoffs or even SuperBowl. So I guess you can say we're in "good" company That is surprising, but those teams are at least trying. The Jets look like they sleepwalk through games until someone has to give them a pep talk. Looked bad against Baltimore and now Cleveland. At least Cleveland played with heart. right. that's the real frustration. even in yesterdays game, they were up by 11 and really only needed another first down to ice the game. instead they let the defense try to stop the browns and they allowed a td. who knows with an onside kick. the game should never have come to it. here's to hoping they will play much harder against the doltfins and make sure they are beat.

bright spots? probably the best second half the jets have played all season. i was fully expecting fitz to lay a real egg given his history of not playing well when coming from behind. that first td in the second half was super important. they don't score there and maybe they don't win. as for players, fitz played well enough. marshall caight some key passes as did enunwa and anderson. heck a tight end caught a pass. powell had some excellent runs and forte did too. on defense wilk got a sack on a key play and the dline did keep pressure on mcnown. pryor had two nice hits, one that prvented a first down and the other that caused the int by mauldin. gilchrst got and int. too bad he was touched by the receiver and went down before getting a good return. the special teams didn't allow any long run backs. edwards nearly muffed a punt. at least marshall tried some run backs on a couple of punts. I did not notice the Dline getting any pressure on anybody they did well enough to make mccown force some throws. granted they didn't knock him around but they did get pressure. and wilk did get a sack.

Patriots just trade Jamie Collins the Browns for a 3rd. Sheldon might command a bit of a better market because of his position, but I doubt it. 1st rounder is probably a pipe dream. is this for real? collins would've given the jets fits.
