Know it probably doesn't mean much but jets are looking at quite a few DTs. "With the 20th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Andrew Billings, DT Baylor" Or maybe Sheldon Rankins, or A'Shawn Robinson, or Jarran Reed. Might as well get used to the idea, because you know one of these guys will be the BPA at 20. Its bound to happen. If that happens one would hope some team falls in love with one of them and we can trade down.

Figured I'd take a stab at it.... 1) Jack Conklin- Starting RT for a decade...goodbye Giacco! 2) Kyler Fackrell- OLB that can do it all 3) Christian Westerman- OG/C solidifies the right side and can be our future center. 4) Jacoby Brissett- QB prototypical arm and size got crushed because of a terrible o line. But he has the ability to be a starter. 5) Harlan Miller- CB aggressive strong tackler ball hawk type 7) Jakeem Grant- WR blazing speed but smallish receiver. Dangerous PR/KR. Can play in the slot. Thoughts? I like the Westerman pick fine. I like the Brisett pick fine. I like the Harlan Miller and Grant picks fine. Not as high on Fackrell as others. Conklin had better be a legit move to LT prospect though for me. I'm still old school enough to think that you don't draft a RT early on. If he can be more than a 'we hope he can play LT' guy fine.

I'm not a fan of Glasgow to be honest, they were pumping him up in the drills at the shrine game but in the game itself I thought he sucked, the dude from U of Calgary looked better.

I wouldn't throw a fit if we picked Wr at 20 but I would be very surprised. The Devin Smith situation is a big problem. We need a speed guy, not just to run 9 routes but to get short passes and turn them into big gains. There are some good smaller speed slot guys in this draft but I think the jets might be hesitant to take one because we took smith last year.

Thanks. The link works -- if you don't mind, I will probably use your player data sheet for the google doc that I will create to track the draft once we get started. No problem, in the draft itself I did not dock KC it's pick for the tampering issue because they are appealing the decision. I assume we will hear reasonably soon if they get to keep their pick or if it is indeed docked. I would encourage others in the mock draft to pick up the sheet as well if they do not have a ready made reference already. It makes things much easier to plan out picks and send picks to the commissioner if you are not going to be around at times.

Every single draft person and nfl evaluator loves him to bits I know that. They also keep bringing up his play at Rb and safety which means nothing at all. I'm still looking for a reason for his lack of production for such a dominant active player.

As in past years I've completed my NFL draft spreadsheet and am making it available for anyone who wants it. Features: List of over 400 college players ranked by an average of a number of online sites. Combine results Links to more in depth player info via NFL.com draft rankings Team statistical rankings from last year. Mock draft sheet with full NFL draft picks including compensatory picks and draft value chart. I am going to try to use the 'attachment' feature on this site and see if it works. (Google docs doesn't work properly for this.) If the attachment feature on this site does not work out people will have to pm me with an email address and I'll send an email (Which is what I've done the last few years.) 2016NFLMockDraftCreator_Final Version.xlsm (742.91 KB)

Comp picks for 2016 were announced today. So they can be added to the grid. Still can't be traded. (trading comp picks begins in 2017, when the Jets get a bunch of them). Also for the grid, no Pats 1st rounder (cheating) and no Chiefs 3rd rounder (maclin tampering). Might want to hold off on the Chiefs change just yet as they are appealing that.

Just had a look at my mock draft creator spreadsheet at the top 3 rounds worth of players, (essentially top 96) by position.
Centers (3) 1st round: 0, 2nd round: 1, 3rd round: 2 Guard (6) 1st round: 0, 2nd round: 2, 3rd round: 4 Off Tackle (10) 1st round: 4, 2nd round: 3, 3rd round: 3 Running Back (7) 1st round: 2, 2nd round: 1, 3rd round: 4 Tight End (3) 1st round: 0, 2nd round: 1, 3rd round: 2 Wide Receiver (11) 1st round: 2, 2nd round: 6, 3rd round: 3 Quarterback (5) 1st round: 3, 2nd round: 1, 3rd round: 1
Defensive End (10) 1st round: 5, 2nd round: 3, 3rd round: 2 Defensive Tackle (13) 1st round: 6, 2nd round: 4, 3rd round: 3 Outside Linebacker (11) 1sr round: 4, 2nd round: 4, 3rd round: 3 Inside Linebacker (3) 1st round: 1, 2nd round: 1, 3rd round: 1 Cornerback (10) 1st round: 5, 2nd round: 2, 3rd round: 3 Safety (7) 1st round: 0, 2nd round: 3, 3rd round: 4
D line and olbs do indeed form the bulk of the top 3 rounds and it does seem defensive heavy (21 out of the 32 are D players)

Doesn't sound like he will make it to the Jets in any case but these great athletes who were asked to do certain things in college and then get projected to do a lot more in the NFL are iffy or at least there has been a number of cases like the ones I mentioned.

Elite awareness and instincts, covers like a safety, is constantly around the ball... He's going to go in the Top 8-10 But he's exactly what we need in the middle of our LB corps A ton of guys jump off the tape, curry did. Dion jordan was the hot stuff becasue he can cover like a safety. What position is this dude going to play? He doesn't have the tackles or tackles for loss that guys like Kuechly or willis had. He has almost no sack stats at all. If he is so great and so active where are the stats to back it up? Where are the sacks? Where are the tackles for loss?

Where is the production? Everyone seems to love the guy but I'm getting an Aaron Curry, Dion Jordan vibe here. I could care less about all of his offensive stats.
1 sack in his career, his tackle and tackle for loss stats do not jump out at all.

Darron Lee is now on my list of players I DON'T want to draft at 20 overall. He's a guy that tests fast but plays slow with no instincts. Without his combine numbers he's nothing more than a 4th rounder. I do like Elliott and Decker and would have no problem with either of them at 20. This is actually born out by my little analytics calculation on the jets nation draft forum based on the formulas created by some fellow on the footballs future forum. Lees' Explosive power and twitch numbers were in the 'beware' category.
