carolina power play was the difference in this series, that and the isles lack of one. one fucking pp goal in 6 games in the playoffs, you might as well carry your bus ticket in your back pocket that being said, isles gotta figure out what the missing pieces are. two trips to the conference finals with basically this crew a few years ago, couldn't get over the hump, and now regressing lamoriello ain't impressing as of late big handful of players looking a little long in the tooth. Gotta get some younger faster players in. Not sure how you trade out old and slow for fast and young though. I think we are looking at a couple year rebuild. No quick fixes for this team.

lamoriello ain't impressing as of late It is beginning to look like the game has passed him by. You watch the skill level of some of these other teams in the playoffs and its like they play a completely different game. Much as I hate to see it, but both the Rags and Devils can play the solid defensive game we can, but they have so much more firepower than us. Only way this team is going to win as it is currently constructed is of Sorokin puts them on his back, but the rest of the team gives him no margin for error.

Sorokin just stole us a game. Let him steal one more tonight. Or better yet, lets just outplay them. Kill some penatlies. Score on a power play. Maybe Horvat and Barzal actually look like they know how to play together. Glad we have shown some fight, now lets win the damn thing.

Fuckin pathetic. If you want to stop the Isles momentum, just take a penalty. How can a powerplay be this bad? I hope you didn't shut it off because that was the best game of the season. There is also a lot of bad blood brewing throughout this series. Carolina player went over the line today, lets see what sunday brings. LGI No, I did not shut it off. Third period was great. So much frustration with the back to back to back power plays until they finally broke through. Hopefully some of it will carry over, at least it has to shake Raanta's confidence a bit heading into Sunday's game. I thought he was getting into our heads -- not anymore. Loved the nastiness at the end. That was Islander playoff hockey. Still some work to do, but I am feeling way better right now than I was an hour ago.

Anyone excited about the playoffs? With Sorokin in net, we always have a fighter's chance. And if Barzal/Romanov come back we can be dangerous. Although the Bruins seem to be unbeatable, if we get them round 1, but strange shit seems to go down every year in the NHL playoffs. LGI. If we don't get Barzal back we have no chance because without him we have no pp. Isn't he expected back for Game 1?

Isles win again. And its another one where I could not watch.
I pay extra for Center Ice on Comcast, but no, can only watch that on my home network. I pay extra for ESPN+. Tuesday's game was blacked out because Des Moines is considered the Blackhawks home market. 350 miles from the United Center is still the home market. There are no local cable channels tht carry the Hawks. How am I still in the Blackawks market. What made it all the more frustrating is that a buddy of mine has season tix to the Blackhawks texted me Tuesday afternoon to see if I wanted to go to the game. Then tonight, I go to ESPN+ again, turn the game on, and it is blacked out because I am in the Blues market. Again 350+ miles from St. Louis. So Des Moines is considered the home market for both the Bues and the Blackhawks. Se what happens Saturday if I am also considered home market for the Red Wings.
Only game I have had a chance to watch since getting out here was the Rangers last week, which was a lot of fun. I guess as long as they are winning, its all good. And there is still a lot of hockey left to watch. But its been frustrating this week.

Missed last night's game. I am out in Iowa with my kids, waiting for the birth of grandchild #2 expected this week. Tried to put the game on using Xfinity, but I can't access the package if I am not connected to my home network. WTF - $100 for the Center Ice package and I can only watch it at home. Thought about ESPN+ after the game ended.
Biggest difference that I have seen this year from past is how active the defense is in the offensive zone. Must have about 10 goals aready from D, including two more last night.

Seems pretty quiet in the thread this year. Tonight was the first game of the season that I decided to watch; was completley apathetic about the start of the season. A lot of the same players, but at least through three games, a different team. Activating defensemen in the offensive zone has made a huge difference. 12 goals in the last two games -- it won't always be like that--but it was fun to watch tonight.

First game I have watched beginning to end in several weeks. Looked like the Isles of last year. Just enough scoring, ugly at times, couple of reviews go against us, had to hold on for dear life in the closing minutes, but won a tight one.

Holy shit. Just saw this. Feel like I lost a piece of my youth. 67 years old. Not much older than me. RIP, Clark.

Really solid effort tonight. If not for some tough bounces in and around the crease, could easily have had 6 or 7 tonight. And I don't think Sorokin could ever expect to have an easier shutout. And for probably the first time since the opening weeks of the season, we are no longer in last place, passing the Devils and moving into a tie with the Flyers with the win tonight. Soro barely got tested tonight, I was hoping they didn't get a fluke double deflection to end the SO. I also had the pleasure of listening to the AZ broadcasters and they were also calling it a bloodbath by the third period. Nelson finally looking like Nelson again is a huge plus. Yup. Nice to see a completely dominant performance on both ends of the ice. Could have been much worse than 4-0. Hopefully they look better in the second half of the back-to-back tomorrow than they did against the Flyers. Still have 47 games left to play. A lot of time to get back into this thing. As you said earlier, just keep winning.

Well, that one was ugly from beginning to end. Nice to steal a couple of points when you don't play well. Great goal by Zeeker to tie it and then one of the ugliest shootouts I have ever seen. Can anyone give me a logical reason why 8 guys shot before Wahlstrom. Baffling why the likes of Bailey, Dobson, Parise went before Wally. And Barzal, what the hell was that? Chopping onions? Gtfo with that shit. Some if these guys outthink themselves. Go in on a breakaway during a game you go in with speed and instinct takes over. Then in the shootout, too many guys come in slowly trying to fool the goalie and it rarely works. Just seems to make it easier on the goalie.
