This team is cursed this year. Finally finish up a 13-game road trip to start the season. Opening of the new building tonight, and it seems like half the team is out with Covid. Lee, Bailey, Beau, Pelech, Greene, Johnston. And Pulock out with injury. Going to need Sorokin/Varlamov to steal one tonight. The only silver lining to this shitstorm is we get to see Salo. Without Pelech, Greene and Pulock, you or I may have been called up if we happened to be anywhere near Bridgeport tonight. Hope he plays well. Would be a huge lift if they can find a way to win tonight. I know its early, but I feel like the season is hanging in the balance right now.

Game started out with promise then they give up a gd short handed goal. Wish they could decline penalties as our pp is useless... Lou has got to find someone to QB the power play. We are aa potential SC championship contender with one glaring hole. As good as anyone in the league on 5 on 5, but its a lot harder to win games when the pp is a liability.

Sounds like its going to be Varlamov making his season debut tonight. Love what Sorokin is doing. 3 shutouts through 9 games (should have been four but for a defensive breakdown in last 30 seconds in Chicago), but he needs the break. Hopefully Varly does not show too much rust, but it makes sesne -- first start against a Western Conference team on second night of back-to-back. Sorokin has clearly shown he can be a number 1 over these first 9 games. He and Varlamov could be as good a goalie tandem as there is in the league.

At least we have the Islanders...Sorokin with back to back SO's. He was incredible last night, it was fun to watch... I didn’t see the game, too tired. But hopefully I can watch it on my flight today. Glad to see the W. Looks like a lot of shots faced though. I watched the first two periods. They weren’t great but Sorokin carried them. 6 games into this season opening road trip, and 7 points. So far so good.

Yup. Great night at the United Center. This one was all about Sorokin and Wahlstrom. Nice to have a sniper who just knows how to score. And Sorokin was at his best, especially in the first period when Hawks were dominating play. Relieved to see them finally get a win. It was only two games, but felt like a lot longer. Needed that one tonight. Was it your presence that got them the W, or that blew Soro’s shutout? I will take credit for the win. Losing the shutout was on my buddy who is a Hawks fan. He decided to hit the mens room with 2 minutes left and missed his team’s only goal of the night. That was all on him.

I guess they are waiting for their first W to come when I am at the game at the United Center on Tuesday.
At least I have the Dawgs.

Frustrating night so far. Luckily, there are another 80 games to play, but tonight has been ugly. Our teams should never have to open up in Carolina anymore.

Isles are here in Chicago first week of the season. Got my tix, and my Trottier jersey. I am ready for the season.
Besdies, I think we will all be able to use a diversion from the Jets.

You still interested in tryng to meet for an Isles/Jets weekend. Looking at the schedules, Isles have the Devils at home on Saturday Dec 11th and the Jets host the Saints on Sunday the 12th. I can't commit just yet because of aging family members but I'm definitely not taking in another Jets game or anything NFL related. I still have your number and I'll let you know as we move closer. If it was my call I'd be 100% going to an Isles game. No worries. Plenty of time to figure it out as we get closer.

This is a good news/bad news scenario. On the bright side we'll be closing out the season with a ton of home games being played with an insane crowd.....they just can't get in a big hole early on and I don't think they will. Other thing that concerns me about moving on from Leddy is he is really the only D-man we had that could skate with the puck. We have had stretches, seemingly every game where we have struggled to break out of our zone, and not having a D-man who skates well with the puck is going to hurt. I understnad the need for the move, but it is going to be critical that we can find a replacement for him. But Lou has made a lot of the right moves over the past 3 years, I am sure he has a plan. My biggest concern is who is in the pipeline to fill that need. When we went down a Dman this year we were playing fucking Hickey and I'm sure all of you know how I feel about him. I'm still confident in Lou but trading Toews hurts even more now with the loss of Leddy. It's not easy to find a smooth skating Dman in free agency that doesn't cost a max contract. I don't follow the youngsters as much as I used to....do you know of someone already in the organization that could fill that roll? Also Big L I don't follow the guys at Bridgeport, so I have no idea if we have someone in the system who can step in and play. Really think the replacement for Leddy will have to come from outside the organization.

I think they are allowing an extra few weeks to finish the Arena. I had seen some talk of playing a couple of games at the Coliseum to avoid exactly this kind of schedule. lol great, a rush job on the finishing touches... we know how that ends up overflowing toilets and missing seat backs First month of the season will be make or break. Open up on October 14 in Carolina and don't play at home for over 5 weeks.
