So? Are we supposed to just never draft a QB at the top of the draft again just because there's a chance that they won't pan out? And yes, there were rumblings for at least 2-3 weeks before Foles got hurt that Kelly was on the verge of making the switch to Sanchez. Where did I say we shouldn't draft a QB? Because I stated the obvious, that the vast majority of QBs don't pan out? Be serious, that's fact. I'll make it worse, 99.9% of QBs out of the spread in college fail. Miserably. Foles wasnt getting benched for Sanchez. Kelly never said he would. He hardly played bad enough to be benched. He played shitty agains SF, a game they lost. He also went 6-2 in his 8 games, @sf and @az, hardly anything to be worried about. I think there's nothing guaranteed but he had an amazing first season and hardly sucked in year two. I wish we had a QB that threw for 300 plus, had more TDs than INTs, 60 comp % and a QB rating over 80. That would suck around here? Well cross Foles off your list then, because he was a spead QB in college. Unless you think he is part of the 1%.

It may be an advantage in his first year because the language may be the same, but if another team drafts Marcus and uses him in a similar offense to OU, he has the same chance of success. People need to remeber that Marcus only started for Kelly for one season before Kelly left for the NFL. I don't think Mariotta's long term success or failure hinges on him being drafted by Kelly. Same exact offense though. So in reality he played in that Eagles system for 3 years as a starter. Except the Eagles system is not the same system that Oregon runs. Similiar but different. If you think it is the same offense then you haven't really watched either of them.

Wow, that escalated quickly. Lol May have been from a fake twitter account -- not sure if it is really from Rapoport. It's a fake. Look at the Twitter name. @rapsheel not @rapsheet.

Strange, I think he retracted that. I don't see it in his tweets anymore.

I think you are right a 4th may too much for a player that Chicago may cut in a few days. You can always trade for him and then restructure him at a lower price. Given that he doesn't have any guaranteed money right now, I'm sure Marshall would be open to having some security for the next couple seasons even at a reduced rate. How about our 4th for Marshall and the Bears 6th. Maybe get back the pick we give up for Harvin. That's better, but I would rather just give them a 5th.

2015 base 7.5 cap 9.5 2016 base 7.9 cap 9.9 2017 base 8.3 cap 10.3 I think his Cap number comes down for us because his bonus essentially accelerates to Chicago, correct? I think his base is all we take but not sure. Yes, his cap number would be equal to his salary right now.

Marshall turns 31 this month. He makes 7.5M this year and 7.9 and 8.3 in 2016 and 2017. None of it guaranteed. A 4th might be a little too much for him....but he's an instant plug-in guy at WR for at least a few years and he's 25% cheaper than Harvin. I think Maccagaganananan has to be doing some calculations right now. I think you are right a 4th may too much for a player that Chicago may cut in a few days. Interesting. What if we cut Percy Harvin so that we keep our 4th rounder and send that 4th to Chicago for Brandon Marshall? What is Marshall's contract status? Marshall turns 31 this month. He makes 7.5M this year and 7.9 and 8.3 in 2016 and 2017. None of it guaranteed.

My old friend and neighbor Brentson. Really wished Bowles would have brought him here. Had many free meals with Brentson, and watched many Yankee games with him while at Clemson. Really good guy.

i never said he'd run the same offense. Chip's inherent familiarity with Mariotta will help him adjust much faster to the NFL. you wouldn't agree that he's far more likely to succeed under his college coach than anyone else? all i'm saying is that it would be a tremendous advantage to mariotta to be drafted by kelly, and anywhere else he'll find it a bit harder to acclimate. It may be an advantage in his first year because the language may be the same, but if another team drafts Marcus and uses him in a similar offense to OU, he has the same chance of success. The guy is a UDFA and he has more sacks than Gholston. (ETA: How come some signings can be made now?) If a player was released from a team and is a FA they can be signed at any time. Only FAs who have expiring contracts have to wait until the new league year.
