nobody gives up more final second of the period goals than the islanders over the past five years... felt like a loss coming in the third and OT... excellent win There certainly were some nervous moments in the last minute and the OT, but still, just 4 shots allowed in the 3rd period tonight. I don't think they have been as strong in their own end this year as they were last season, especially in the playoffs, but the goaltending has been better, as has the power play, so at least we have had a bit of a margin for error this season. |

Ugly 3rd period, but I will take the 2 points.
Hopefully Lee is not hurt badly - we are going to need him as the schedule gets tougher over the next couple of weeks.

But so far, they have done what they had to against the bottom of the Division. Strange game tonight. First two periods was as good as they have played all season and that 3rd period was pretty bad. |

Survived a meh effort, but what a storyline. Lee goes down, Bellows gets called up, plays on the first line and scores the tying and winning goals in the 3rd. And both were real nice goals. Would be great if this gets him going and Wahlstrom can keep it up as well. Just keep banking points since the schedule is about to get a lot tougher,

I'd rather any of the above. |

Last game on an isles board, people were knocking Soro and praising MDC for a good game. I couldn’t believe people were bashing a rookie goalie 8 games in and praising MDC because he backchecks. play along for a second here - close your eyes, and imagine your average NHL forward. Totally average guy. What do you see? A guy 5’10, 185, can skate, pass with authority, back checks, and pots 10-12 goals a season, adds another 12-15 assists? MDC is not even average. He deserves no praise. Defending him is like battered wife syndrome. “He’s a good husband, he lets me eat the toast I burned. But I deserved that beating” /end rant |
