Sorokin was brilliant in the first two to keep them in the game. Played a solid 3rd, and now I am excited about the playoffs. Coming in to this one tonight, it was hard to be optimistic about the Isles chances, but playoffs are a new season. LGI!!! I wasn’t too worried when I saw Soro in net. Figured it was a chance for him to step up in the big show and give the rest of the team a little something extra to play for. what worries me is Varly. Any word on Varly? If he went out before the start of the third and had all those days off and wasn’t ready today, then that doesn’t sound good to me. It’s probably pretty serious. Don't sleep on this Islanders team because it is built for playoff hockey. It was nice to see them hitting and wearing down the Pens in the third period.

Not saying they would have won the game, but they wouldn’t have been playing from behind 5 minutes in either. Win or lose so what, then put varly in for home debut. If varly let in a couple stinkers because he’s rusty, at least it’s at home where they’d have a much better chance of coming back from that. |

He gave up a soft goal early, but played really well to give us a chance the rest of the way. We gave up 40+ shots. That is not Islander hockey. If we keep giving up 40+ shots per game, we are not winning this series. Got to get back to what we do best. Defensive first, boring hockey where we frustrate the other team by not letting them get opportunties. And we need to finish on the other end when we get the chance. Frustrating game 2, but we come back home tied. Just have to figure out a way to play tough Islander playoff hockey -- which we have not done these first two games. |

Need Sorokin in the net for Gme 4, and we have to find a way to take a lead. We have been trailing nearly this entire series.
Every time we tied the game, we gaveit up within about a minute or so. Guys are fighting hard, but they can't keep playing from behind.

I really felt good about Varly after the way he played over the last 40 minutes on Tuesday, but tonight, when we needed him to make a big save, he came up small every time. And giving up soft early goals is setting the tone and getting us out of our game. This team is not built to come from behind. Gotta ride with Sorokin for as many games as we have left. |

WTF Varly.
He looks like Nabakov with the reaction after the puck has gone in the net. Nabakov was old though. It was to be expected. How did varly get old in a week?

Huge save by Sorokin early against Kapanen, but the Isles played Islander hockey today. Not a lot of chances by the Pens, Isles controlled this one most of the game.
