Agreed, but I also fully believe he knew he was being photographed here. Their profession practically requires them to be full of sh*t at all times. I wont get political but I wont minimize his negligence either. If ANYONE hands you a gun and tells you its safe, you dont take their word for it. If he couldnt be bothered to learn what a safe gun is "because its the prop-masters job" and half the crew had walked off already, f*ck him. Good point on the gun safety. Agree, 100%. Today, they are saying it was a period gun and not a prop with a live round left in it. Total negligence. |

Just curious, but why would there even be live bullets on the set anywhere? I asked this question earlier and can't think of any reason why they would have live ammo on set. It also turns out that his stunt double fired two "live" rounds earlier in the week and the production crew was scared shit that a half dozen of them walked off the set for that and also not being paid promptly and forcing them to drive from Albuquerque instead of springing for a hotel in Santa Fe. They also held no safety meetings. Then add in that 6 hours before she was shot they brought in non union workers and kicked some of the union members off set, even with threat of arrest. All this info is from interviews with the Albuquerque Journal. |

Looks like Big L nailed it; Also, apparently the crew had been using the same pistol for off-the-set target practice with live ammo and that the live ammo was kept with the blanks. Mix that with a dumb inexperienced kid with a history of fuck-ups being charged with ensuring its safety, a clueless self-absorbed actor who doesnt have the common sense to double check the gun... and here we are. |
