Which one should I try next? Peat Project was Limited Edition, so not that one (not available). Depends of if you like peat or not. If you do, give the P.C. Scottish Barley a go, it's pure Islay, barley frown there, distilled there, stored there. It's literally the flavor of a cold Scottish salty ocean breeze with a peat fire off someplace nearby.

Is French whisky common? What's it like? No it's not common. We do have a handful of distilleries in Brittany which resembles Scottish Isles in terms of environment: rough landscapes and coastline. TBH it’s one of the first times I’ve seen a French whiskey in a store. You really have to go out of your way. Armorik is one of the most know and has won a few European awards (ie: everything outside of Scotland/Ireland). We have many local alcohols: Armagnac, Cognac and Calva which makes for some surprising flavors that can be added in the aging process. I tasted one whiskey aged in calva casks which was really different (calva is made from the distillation of apples). I actually brought a bottle of calva over to 32green for buying me tickets to the lions game last year. Prolly gathering dust in the liquor cabinet..

I just checked my usual internet store and the prices are pretty crazy for everything else besides the Laddie Islay Barley which I may give a go soon. Thanks.

I don't have as much money as you gentlemen. I have had a few aged single malts over the last year but the bottles went to the dumpster when I realised they were surrounding me.
We should have a sub thread for surprising good cheap ass whiskey.
For example Dewards white label. Cheap blended malt that has the flavour of a cheap single malt. A little peaty and fruity about $15 a bottle. I nip over the border to France every now and again as I'm very close but I have never seen a French whiskey myself.

Giving this newly-gifted bottle a try tonight:

Neither of these was anything worth writing home about. I was dissapointed in the Jura which I found bland. Very smooth but with no notable character traits. Surprising since I really liked the Superstition. The French one was meh, but I was already a bit drunk so I'll have to go back to it.

Giving this newly-gifted bottle a try tonight: The Benromach was good, but not what I was expecting. Given that it's a Speyside with a darkish color, I thought it would have sweeter notes. Fact is it's very peaty, so those of you who like that but want to change it up a bit and want to try something other than an Islay, this is a good option.
