Also from Walter Football (Tony Pauline). MIssed this the other day: One of the most intriguing prospects in the draft IMO. You look at the kids tape, and his overall game looks damn near flawless. But the level of competition is the key issue. I wouldn't be against taking him at the top of the 3rd if he's still there. I know we have a lot of interior bodies on the roster, but how many of them are actually worth a damn?

I like him but I don't think we'll have a chance at him unless it's with our 3rd round pick, which seems a little high to take him IMO. If we were at the end of the 3rd I'd be more comfortable but it just seems like a bit of a gamble to use a Top 75 Pick on him. If he's there in the 4th (Pick # 101) then great, but I'm not sure if he will be.

But the level of competition is the key issue. This is what scares me about Marpet -- especially early 3rd. It is a huge step up from playing the likes of Endicott, Curry College and the Merchant Marine Academy to the NFL. After some time with NFL coaching and conditioning, he could be great, but what happens when he goes up against guys who are all bigger stronger and quicker than he has ever gone up against before.

I'm a bit surprised that the Jets have not had Beasley in for a visit.

Garett Grayson, QB Is being brought in for a private workout on April 27... For whatever reason, I think this kid ends up a Jet. Last time I felt this way was Amaro...

I think that is 5 QBs we will have met with: Winston, Mariota, Petty, Hundley and Grayson. Unless one of the top two guys drop. I would much rather take a guy like Grayson in 3 after filling a couple of other holes in 1 & 2 -- instead of ransoming the future by giving up 2 1s and a 2 to move up.

It seems incredibly obvious to me that the Jets are in the market for two positions in Rounds 2-3.....QB and RB. I think we'll go either OLB/DE or WR at #6 because that's where the BPA will come from (unless Winston or Mariota drop to 6), but once we get to Rounds 2, 3, 4 I think we're coming out with both a QB and RB. JMHO.

I'm a bit surprised that the Jets have not had Beasley in for a visit. Whoa! Why would the Jets bring in almost every single expected Top 10 pick.....except Beasley? Very...very interesting. Could it be that... Beasley is their target?!?!?

I agree on edge rusher, WR & QB as priorities in the draft -- and I would love to see us come away with a RB as well, but i have not heard that we have shown any kind of significant interest in any of the running backs in this draft. Does not look like there is even a single running back on the list of prospects.

Does not look like there is even a single running back on the list of prospects. Not sure if that's a smokescreen or not, and I haven't checked into all the Pro Days attended by the Jets for teams that may only have a RB as a solid draft prospect. My thinking at RB comes from the fact that... - Ivory has been the #1 and he's heading into his final contract year. He also has always had injury concerns. - Powell is a very good backup, but not someone you'd consider very good as a starter. - Ridley is solid depth, similar to Powell assuming he's back to full health. But again, he's not an every down starter. So if you look at the RB depth chart it has two key problems in my opinion: 1. The #1 guy is another year older and is heading into the final year of his contract. He's also not the most durable. We need a starter for 2016. Not sure Ridley is that guy. 2. The backups are clearly backups and while deserving of touches (5-8 per game?) I'm not sure either of them are starting caliber. I think we want to add youth, speed and capability at RB while also giving us the ability to let Ivory walk after 2015 if we find a suitable starter in this Draft.

FWIW, the Jets have not met with any of the running backs either. I know we have a new administration in town, but the last 2 administrations had a habit of drafting guys that they met and brought in. While Maccagnan was in Houston, they signed Arian Foster as an UDFA, so who knows, maybe they don't value the position very much.
