Too much drama, the media spinning things, SOJF's and haters rejoicing, it's almost as if some of you are having an orgasm, couple that orgasm with the self-entitlement of being a frustrated SOJF, it's like you put your balls in a vacuum hose to enhance the orgy some of you are having with each other with the drama the media just LOVES to pour on, and SOJF is eating this shit up.
The facts...
- Geno was approached by IK on the dept matter, during training camp, IK wasn't happy, and for whatever reason, decided to punch out his QB
- We know Geno cancelled on IK's camp due to a personal matter that we later found out was a legit cancellation, it happens all the time with players
- Too many people are immediately trying to blame Geno for this, the media pundits, etc.
- No question the entire act yesterday is embarrassing, and we should all be frustrated...
The logic reasoning...
Look no further than Anthony Becht's twitter timeline, he puts this into perspective that I agree with completely:
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 17m17 minutes ago People always expect others to do the "morally right" thing..Stop with that. It's an imperfect world w/ imperfect people.. We all live in it
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 24m24 minutes ago Had players call me 24hrs before my camps &cancel..It happens. loss $ from there flights/hotels..But I'm not going to heckle or punch them
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 29m29 minutes ago Result: #Geno Smith suffers...Enemkpali out of work.. #Jets team & organization suffers... And #Jets fans suffer.
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...punching the man for that is inexcusable. I don't care how much $ either guy makes. It's training camp. Approach & handle it after camp.
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...he doesn't have to.. Period. It was obviously escalated because Enemkpali kept bringing it up, which was the wrong way to go about it...
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...confronting the player & pleading that he pays you back is wrong. If Geno doesn't want to pay him back, regardless if right or wrong....
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...absolutely not.. BUT I also know odds are its gonna happen. Especially high profile players. Get "REFUNDABLE" tixs.. You live & learn...
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ..some guys are gonna cancel, miss, or late for these events. It happens... It's happened to me atleast 10 times... Was I happy about it....
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago I've been running camps for 10 years.. NFL players are the worst schedule makers.. As a guy that's booked over 100 flight for players....
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago Let's get this straight Geno Smith had ZERO obligation to pay back Enemkpali the $600 because of a cancelled flight & limo dues for his camp
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 31m31 minutes ago My Geno Smith & Enemkpali take on yesterday's events at #Jets training camp.
Debate:
- Why are people so quick to blame Geno?
- I agree that the franchise QB being involved in something like this looks bad, but why the rush to blame Geno? It sure seems to me that IK wouldn't let this go and didn't address it properly, what choice did Geno have? And before any of you suggest that Geno should just pay his debts, while true, none of us know the facts of why or how, Geno didn't escalate this, and I can't imagine that he would not have paid off a measly $600 if that was the argument, and should IK who is making a fair share of money himself really be crying about $600?
- Absolutely true, that this setback hurt the team, the start of this season, and also IK, a promising young LB, and that just sucks.
- I'm not ready to write off this season, SOJF's can GFT, I'm not even giving up on Geno.

1 - I was starting to get a semi-hard on waiting to see what Geno could pull off this season, so I'm kind of bummed of the set back for him. 2 - I don't think it hurts us in any way. At the very least, Fitz is as good as Geno. I personally think he's better. We'll still have our share of INT's.
End of story. The media will harp on this until another nimrod player does something dumb.

I will say though, I'd rather a DUI or other off the field incident to what happened yestereday, which just doesn't look good all around. It could nothing or it could mean many things (no leaders, Geno's not respected, Bowles doesn't have the team under control...). It's too early to tell for now.

We suffer a big set back in the clarity this season was meant to provide on Geno's long term potential.

A true leader, (insert name here, ie: Namath, Brady, Montana, Manning, et al) would not have let it get this far. They would have paid the $600 telling the guy, consider it a donation because my tax accountant is. Actions speak louder than words. Geno has no clue how to lead.

I'm disappointed that Geno is out, only because I wanted to see what kind of progress he made, especially with these new weapons. I admittedly prepped the boner pants last week based upon all the rave reviews he was getting, but logically, the chances that he would turn the corner and become a serviceable NFL QB were slim.
Fitz is our guy now and he probably is the better QB right now anyways.
My biggest disappointment....by far....is that once again this organization looks like a total clown show. Whether its rightly perceived or not, that's how we come off, that's what the media is going to play off of to get their ever so important clicks and follows.....and as fans, we have to deal with it from others.
It's fucking embarrassing....I was so looking forward to going to the Monday night game here in Indy in a month....now, not so much cause I'm gonna have to deal with idiot Colts fans shoving this shit show in my face all night, probably while getting our asses handed to us.

Rah Rah...the King of Rationalization.
Media spin? Two maroons fighting over $600. This story doesn't need spin. The facts are crazy enough.

Say's the fan of the team whose hero smashed his cell phone with evidence of wrong doing and is making it a federal legal case pleading his innocence!!!
Fuck off!

There is no excuse for what IK did. There is no rationalization of his conduct necessary.
However, Geno engaged in his own poor conduct both in escalating the situation in the locker room and by not paying what he owed when he should have. There is rationalizing that. Geno showed once again his inability to lead and lack of accountability. Normally I would not say friction between two guys over what is a small sum to both of them should be cast in such serious light but this all took place in the locker room in front of other players. It's one of two places where Geno has to be a leader and so clearly fell down on the job. This was an opportunity for Geno to be a leader and he wasn't. Instead he was--as Bowles described it--just as childish in the incident.

Like Bowles said "it takes two to tango".
These are two grown men who are both at fault, there's no defending Genos involvement.
I have a hard time believing this situation would happen to any of the 31 other starting QB's.
