The broken jaw selfie is one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in a long time. It's a small part of the story, but really sums up the whole thing nicely. I posted this in another thread, but it's why I think these "minor" character concerns are not overblown at all. Yea that was the final straw to me....look how much remorse IK showed in his statement(whether it was genuine or drafted by his agent it doesn't matter) compared to glass jaw Geno's douche response....as if he has 0 blame in this.. At this point I don't care how much arm talent he has....he has 0 leadership capabilities....and is extremely immature...not someone I want as the starting QB of this team...

Didn't see this thread before I posted in the other thread about the incident. I'll throw it out here too.
I've been reading a lot of these posts, saw the press conference and read what was reported this morning (albeit it was from Manish).
One thing about this doesn't make sense to me and I want to see what you guys say.
No argument that glass jaw glass jaw Geno may be immature, aloof and thin skinned. But my question is this: has anyone ever seen (during a game, practice or interview) anything from glass jaw glass jaw Geno that would be considered "aggressive"? Personally, I don't think I've ever heard/seen/read any reports of him yelling at teammates (or opponents for that matter) or getting into someone's face.
Be curious to know if someone recalls it ever happening.
Now, I'm not saying he didn't yell at IK and put his hand/finger in his face. Fact is I don't know. But, I have a different theory as to why it may have happened (if he did) based on what I've observed about is personality/demeanor the last 2 + years. And no, I'm not a glass jaw glass jaw Geno "apologist".
My theory on this (for what it's worth):
Geno bailed on IK's camp because his friend died. Based on his past history, he probably didn't communicate with IK well (if at all) about this. Instead of saying "No worries, sorry for your loss", IK may have been a d*$# about it to Geno demanding his money back for being "showed up". Geno being the aloof, immature and thin skinned kid probably ignored IK because of him being "callous" as to why (death of a friend) he didn't make it. IK has probably been riding him and breaking his balls about it since camp started, talking shit and badmouthing Geno who he (and probably others on the team) doesn't respect. Geno, who strikes me as non-confrontational, probably got to the point where he said "F this dude" and began to ignore him. Could he have just paid him.....of course. But I can think of times in my life when people became such a pain in the a@@ about something that you finally go "F you" and tune them out and not do what they want you to do. I think (again just my opinion) that IK started up again with the chatter in the locker room on Tuesday and Geno finally had enough, got in his face, told him to back off and shut the F up, put his hand in his face IK popped him.
Again, speculation. But this would explain comments of about how "both were at fault' and still jive with what types of personalities these 2 guys seem to have.

This morning Boomer said that according to numerous sources he's heard from, and as the details are coming out.... they cut the wrong guy. Imho, Boomer's a pretty fair guy who is usually a strong player advocate.
Thinking about the glass jaw glass jaw Geno era and the way this thing went down, I cant help but suspect that glass jaw glass jaw Geno was never comfortable in his role, resented the expectations that come with the job, is an immature, insecure punk...and may have subconsciously committed suicide by cop by basically goading a teammate to deck him. Now, out for the foreseeable future....he's tweeting "I'll be back" type tough guy shyte? R U sh*tting me?
While not nearly as impactful as Bledsoe going down to initiate the Brady era, perhaps glass jaw glass jaw glass jaw Geno basically taking himself out of the equation will turn out to be huge in moving this franchise in the right direction.
I cant help but think that Coach Bowles, and many in the organization, are thinking the same as the dust settles.

I posted this in another thread, but it's why I think these "minor" character concerns are not overblown at all. Quarterbacks have to be extraordinary people. I can't stand when people brush off incidents like Johnny Manziel's by saying "what did you do in college?" I don't want me quarterbacking our football team. The vast majority of these guys are mature past their years. They are leader of men and live and breathe football. No I'm not saying Smith is as bad as Manziel. Between being late for the meeting because of a "time zone" difference (before a HUGE game) to getting kicked off the plane (yeah it was a misunderstanding supposedly, but I don't see Peyton Manning putting himself in that position) to getting in a fight with a backup defensive player... well as others have said where there is smoke there is fire. I don't think is a bad guy by any means, but he's immature which was painfully clear by his decision to take a selfie shortly after getting his jaw broken. Immature people aren't good leaders and they certainly don't make super bowl winning quarterbacks. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt this year because he was saying all the right things and he has all the talent you could want, but nothing has changed. We are never going anywhere with . We just wanted to convince ourselves there was a chance. Immaturity and inconsistency are his demise. Who is this? Really? Way too clever to be Caltron.

+1 all around. Now that the dust is settling you realize the lack of overall judgment/maturity glass jaw Geno has...and this is the dude we're handing the keys over to? How on earth did he let the situation boil to the point where he gets his neck ripped off is just mind blowing. Personally, I don't want him on the field again. F him. My guess is there's most likely a lot of resentment on the defensive side of the ball because one of theirs was cut because of the immaturity of someone who hasn't earned their respect. I can't see how Bowles can go to him after. And +1 for the selfie comment Carltron.

I'll take it a step further and add that I would've liked to see Smith canned as well. The level of immaturity/narcissism displayed by him afterwards was amazing. "I just got my jaw broken in two places by a teammate #butfirstletmepostaselfie." That's the "leader", the face of your franchise? Fuck outta here. hThis makes a lot of sense as far as Geno's mentality and motivations. But how could they ever have not cut Ik?

I'm very much on board with this, and you did a better job than I did conveying this perspective that I share.
I don't think this was a case where Geno was a straight punk about the whole situation, but he probably didn't handle it as well as he should have with IK. I do think IK was more at fault and was the instigator of it all, which was a dick move on his part.

At the same time, if stories coming out on Boomer are true, I can't argue against it, and it makes it difficult to support Geno.
I don't trust that prick Manish though, so I wonder how much Boomer is getting info from him.

Yeah...Maybe Jeno isn't this and he isn't that, but he's the best QB that we have at the moment. I was looking forward to seeing him with the improved weapons, and the Bowles/Gailey dynamic. This shit sucks.
