I have a hard time believing this situation would happen to any of the 31 other starting QB's. Listening to Boomer and Carton this morning, they had Bart Scott on...he basically said from what he's seen, Geno has little support in the lockeroom, and virtually no leadership skills. To emphasize his point he said "can you imagine this happening to Joe Flacco? NO"
This is all rooted in that little uneasiness a lot of us had about Geno all along, starting with the negative buzz on him pre-draft.
Frankly, I'm glad this happened now, I had no faith in Geno and if we're going to see Fitz, might as well start the season with him.

Hard to argue with any of this to be honest. I just can't see a scenario where this locker room or the coaching staff actually want him back, clearly not the guy goin forward. I guess it's time to ride this year out with Fitz and then turn Petty loose next year, he's the future now.

Why can't they both be childish BOZOS?
What's with trying to blame one and not the other?

Too much drama, the media spinning things, SOJF's and haters rejoicing, it's almost as if some of you are having an orgasm, couple that orgasm with the self-entitlement of being a frustrated SOJF, it's like you put your balls in a vacuum hose to enhance the orgy some of you are having with each other with the drama the media just LOVES to pour on, and SOJF is eating this shit up.
The facts...
- Geno was approached by IK on the dept matter, during training camp, IK wasn't happy, and for whatever reason, decided to punch out his QB
- We know Geno cancelled on IK's camp due to a personal matter that we later found out was a legit cancellation, it happens all the time with players
- Too many people are immediately trying to blame Geno for this, the media pundits, etc.
- No question the entire act yesterday is embarrassing, and we should all be frustrated...
The logic reasoning...
Look no further than Anthony Becht's twitter timeline, he puts this into perspective that I agree with completely:
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 17m17 minutes ago People always expect others to do the "morally right" thing..Stop with that. It's an imperfect world w/ imperfect people.. We all live in it
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 24m24 minutes ago Had players call me 24hrs before my camps &cancel..It happens. loss $ from there flights/hotels..But I'm not going to heckle or punch them
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 29m29 minutes ago Result: #Geno Smith suffers...Enemkpali out of work.. #Jets team & organization suffers... And #Jets fans suffer.
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...punching the man for that is inexcusable. I don't care how much $ either guy makes. It's training camp. Approach & handle it after camp.
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...he doesn't have to.. Period. It was obviously escalated because Enemkpali kept bringing it up, which was the wrong way to go about it...
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...confronting the player & pleading that he pays you back is wrong. If Geno doesn't want to pay him back, regardless if right or wrong....
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ...absolutely not.. BUT I also know odds are its gonna happen. Especially high profile players. Get "REFUNDABLE" tixs.. You live & learn...
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago ..some guys are gonna cancel, miss, or late for these events. It happens... It's happened to me atleast 10 times... Was I happy about it....
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago I've been running camps for 10 years.. NFL players are the worst schedule makers.. As a guy that's booked over 100 flight for players....
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 30m30 minutes ago Let's get this straight Geno Smith had ZERO obligation to pay back Enemkpali the $600 because of a cancelled flight & limo dues for his camp
Anthony Becht @anthony_Becht · 31m31 minutes ago My Geno Smith & Enemkpali take on yesterday's events at #Jets training camp.
Debate:
- Why are people so quick to blame Geno?
- I agree that the franchise QB being involved in something like this looks bad, but why the rush to blame Geno? It sure seems to me that IK wouldn't let this go and didn't address it properly, what choice did Geno have? And before any of you suggest that Geno should just pay his debts, while true, none of us know the facts of why or how, Geno didn't escalate this, and I can't imagine that he would not have paid off a measly $600 if that was the argument, and should IK who is making a fair share of money himself really be crying about $600?
- Absolutely true, that this setback hurt the team, the start of this season, and also IK, a promising young LB, and that just sucks.
- I'm not ready to write off this season, SOJF's can GFT, I'm not even giving up on Geno.
There is no such thing as an SOJ Fan. We are just fans. The team just stinks so much and is such a laughinstock over the decades that there's more to be upset about than be joyful about. There has been virtually nothing to be joyful about in 4 straight years now. In the last 11 years, only really 2004, 2009 and 2010 were joyful. Each year ended in horrible heartbreak though. Every other year pretty much sucked. It's just the same ol' same ol' with this team. The faces change, but the same disfunction always remains. We went from Gutman to Glatt, Bradway to Tanny to Idzik to maccagan, from players incompetent coslet to carroll for five minutes to KOTITE to parcells (yes, '98 was a good year, again ending in heartbreak), to groh for a season to players coach herm (he was actually the most successful in some ways with 3 out of 5 playoff appearances) to stalin hard ass mangini to players coach rex to somewhere in the middle bowles. THe players have changed over a million times, but it's still the same horrible, laughable, circus like ride. It's not the fans man. It's the organization. This franchise is the most unluckiest bunch of losers in history. But, it just can't be all bad luck. There have been seriously horrible drafting decisions. Bad FO hiring decisions. Something stinks about this franchise. The just plain suck. I thinik this video sums up the jets situation nicely:

A true leader, (insert name here, ie: Namath, Brady, Montana, Manning, et al) would not have let it get this far. They would have paid the $600 telling the guy, consider it a donation because my tax accountant is. Actions speak louder than words. Geno has no clue how to lead. That is the point and you can probably include just about every other QB in the NFL. I've been cautiously optimistic about him this year (emphasis on the word "cautiously"), hoping that his first two years were growing pains, but for him to not nip this in the bud and let it get this far tells me that Geno just doesn't get it. After this, I really question if he'll ever be a successful NFL QB, because that requires leadership qualities that I now don't think he has. His bad decision making isn't limited to only the field (movie theater in San Diego as well, cursing a fan, etc.); a trend is starting to emerge. What successful NFL QB keeps acculumulating data points like this to make you question his decision making? Maybe this will be a wakeup call for him; we can only hope.

1 - I was starting to get a semi-hard on waiting to see what Geno could pull off this season, so I'm kind of bummed of the set back for him. 2 - I don't think it hurts us in any way. At the very least, Fitz is as good as Geno. I personally think he's better. We'll still have our share of INT's. End of story. The media will harp on this until another nimrod player does something dumb. Big downside is the backup position in case of injury. Fitz was a good backup to have; now what?

Bart Hubbuch @barthubbuch · 4m4 minutes ago Roger Staubach also got sucker-punched by a teammate. I'm sure he shared the blame m, because everyone knows he was such a terrible leader.

Staubach was truly sucker punched. In case you haven't read the news TODAY, it's being reported glass jaw Geno had his finger in the guy's face so he was hardly "sucker punched". Here's a link in case you need it: thebiglead.com/2015/08/12/geno-smith-refused-600-ik-enemkpali-600-pointed-finger/And as for Roger being a Naval Academy Grad, I don't hold it against him.

Why would you hold his naval academy graduation against him?

I have a hard time believing this situation would happen to any of the 31 other starting QB's. Listening to Boomer and Carton this morning, they had Bart Scott on...he basically said from what he's seen, glass jaw Geno has little support in the lockeroom, and virtually no leadership skills. To emphasize his point he said "can you imagine this happening to Joe Flacco? NO"
This is all rooted in that little uneasiness a lot of us had about glass jaw Geno all along, starting with the negative buzz on him pre-draft.
Frankly, I'm glad this happened now, I had no faith in glass jaw Geno and if we're going to see Fitz, might as well start the season with him.
I'll take it a step further and add that I would've liked to see Smith canned as well. The level of immaturity/narcissism displayed by him afterwards was amazing. "I just got my jaw broken in two places by a teammate #butfirstletmepostaselfie." That's the "leader", the face of your franchise? Fuck outta here.

Just fuckin cut him and make a statement. They still have time. Find a backup for Fitz, cut this dumbass, and for fuck sakes get Mathis in here to keep Fitzmagic from getting another broken leg!
