[Read this on another board, too juicy not to share]
As we await the decision, Boomer Esiason this AM let 2 remarkable things drop based on what he claimed were numerous conversations with NFL coaches and front office people who he declined to name. 1. Sean Payton got a year for not knowing about Bountygate. EVERYONE is very upset that a total control freak like Bellicheat is being totally exonerated and not punished. If this was going on, how could Bellicheat or Ernie Adams not know? Defies belief. Also, is Brady not overjoyed about taking the fall for things he may have known about but wasn't really party to? But once you get on the Bellicheat rollercoaster there isn't an exit until he cuts you.
2. Several coaches have told Esiason privately that when playing the Pats, punters have noticed that rather than getting the K ball they themselves prepped, suddenly they found themselves stuck using an underinflated ball. You only know it when you get the ball snapped to you, so there really is no way to complain. Such a ball is going to go 15 or even 20 yards shorter than a fully-inflated K ball. Also, been known for years Pats play with the headsets of visiting teams forever; who knows if they are even listening? Over the course of a game, big difference in field position is gonna make a serious difference.
Sounds like a lot of NFL people do not want this suspension shortened, and the nonsense in NE is pissing people off.
Pats are screwed
Brady is going to be suspended, the NFL is laughing at the false bravado of the arrogant schmuck... Knowing they fucked up not penalizing Belidick, no way they are backing down, 31 other owners have had it.
The Legacy* is coming to an end, and I fucking love it!!!

Not trying to stand in the way of a perfectly good story, but any idea as to why nobody other than that other site seems to have picked this up? You would think the NFL would be pushing this to ESPN and its other media channels. Even patstools.com is radio silent and they usually sniff out these kind of reports the second after they are broadcast.

The NFL doesn't want the story bigger than it is. If the story that the Patriots, rather than one player, institutionally cheated year after year then it sullies a lot of super bowls and the game in general. It's already embarrassing for the league that this happened to its darling team and its darling QB but to have it become a widespread, long term scheme of cheating could cost the NFL billions of dollars in revenue over the loss of credibility in the game.

Well that's a relief, because for a minute there I was afraid that the Patriots would be docked a future 1st and 4th round draft pick for this. Good thing the NFL wants to keep the Patriots organization as a whole out of it.

I'm sure Esiason is lying, just so the clowns in New England still have hope in their pathetic #FreeBrady campaign of denial and hypocrisy.

Don't scientists do studies on behavior patterns? I'm not a scientist but I do see a certain pattern taking shape regarding the Pats* and their "methods of victory."

I can't listen to Craig Carton, way too annoying, so thanks for this Ray.
Esiason is one of the most objective people out there - he is not prone to anti-Pats rhetoric, and is no friend to the Jets organization.
I give credence to what he says based on his track record. The perspective on how the deflated balls affected the punters game is interesting. Surely it would have had the same negative affect on the Pats punting game ? Except of course that they were punting less given that they were usually dominating their opponents.

No one wants this to happen more than me, but I'll believe it when I see it. The stuff with the headsets and communications has always been talked about. Peyton Manning always believed that the visiting locker rooms were bugged, it wouldn't shock me in the least.

Brady and Goodell are two smug pompous I'm better than you types, they are unfortunately a microcosm of American society right now. This whole deflategate nonsense should have been over with immediately, all Brady had to do was say, "yes, I knew about the balls, I didn't think it was that big a deal."
If Brady had in fact admitted his culpability immediately if would be all but forgotten by now, but his ego wouldn't let that happen, and Goodell's won't let him not rule the roost. Ego's and non compromise are what is ruining society as a whole today imho, creates big problems out of small ones.

Ego's and non compromise are what is ruining society as a whole today imho, creates big problems out of small ones. This applies to Brady and Belidick, what has Goodell done to give this perception?
Goodell is protecting the shield and his administration in all of this sure, but he isn't working for himself, he is working for the 31 owners who have become tired of the bullshit up in Patriot nation, they have been exposed AGAIN, and now Brady is trying to weasel his way out of it to salvage his reputation, image, and the team's image. Belidick is such a pompous ass, he has basically thrown Brady under a bus and has claimed his bullshit "I have no idea what happened" position, somehow getting exonerated by the league, which is yet another mistake the NFL made in dolling out the punishment rendered to the Patriot organization. Why did Sean Payton get suspended for a year for bountygate, had no involvement, but was still penalized being the head coach? How does Belidick escape this?
The challenge the NFL has is minimizing the uproar from the 31 other owners to protect the overall image of the NFL from a PR perspective, but there is no way the NFL is backing down, and it's not for their own ego, it's for the rest of the league.
