Team actually played better tonight. Cory was great, but that first goal was pretty soft. Larsson keeps getting better and better so that's good. When Merrill comes back Zidlicky needs to sit for a few games, and Gelinas over Harrold. Unfortunately that won't happen.
This is pathetic: Streaks in the last 141games 2x3gm Win 6x3gm Lose 3x4gm Lose* 1x6gm Lose 1x7gm Lose 1x10gm Lose
Current: 4gm Lose*
Oh well one game closer to hopefully drafting McDavid or Echiel.

Gomez has been signed and will be centering Elias and Jagr tonight. Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 12s12 seconds ago It appears Scott Gomez has been signed. He's wearing No. 21 on the back of his helmet for today's practice. Travis Zajac goes on IR. nj.com/devils And Havlet is out again. We're so fucked haha.

Marty as a Blue. Who'da thunk it. Also, whoop the shit out of the Penguins tonight, OK? He got a pretty sweet deal too. 1 year 700k, extra 125k if he's on the roster by Feb 1st, and an extra 10k for every point he wins. Also no more winning for the Devils this year haha so sorry. We're like the Jets and need a full rebuild. Plus this is a stacked draft and has the next Crosby in it aka McDavid.

Rich Chere @ledger_NJDevils · 2h 2 hours ago Ryder: "If the coach doesn't feel you can help the team, it's what he thinks."
Tootoo in for Ryder tonight against the Penguins. Ryder doesn't sound too happy. I wonder if a move will be made soon.

Tough loss tonight vs a punk Penguin team. Loved our effort tonight. We were already short Zajac, Elias, Merrill, Havlet, and sitting Ryder. Then Jagr went down on a cheap shot to the head by Burtuzzo. I was hoping someone would pound his face in but he kept skating away like a bitch when Tootoo confronted him. If Jagr is out for awhile we have a good shot at top 5 pick and Mcdavid/Eichel. Malkin is also a punk and I wouldn't drop the gloves either. The Flyers are dirty but at least they don't run away after cheap shots. Outside of all that Cory was outstanding tonight and kept us in it. This was one of his best games. Oh and Pete continues to fuck with Larsson's minutes. He had less 5 on 5 time than Zids, Gelinas, and Harrold. Wtf is that shit.

One piece of good news
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 6m6 minutes ago Looking at Devils roster, appears Peter Harrold has been sent down to activate Jon Merrill from IR. Harrold was at rink this morning.
More bad news
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice · 23m 23 minutes ago The problem the Devils face as far as call-ups is that they don't open roster spots. Havlat can go on IR for one spot to activate Merrill.
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice · 22m 22 minutes ago Anyone placed on IR has to miss at least 7 days following last game. Jagr and Larsson are sick, expected back Saturday.
More bad news for Clowe
The father of Newfoundland-born NHL player Ryane Clowe is among those charged in the wake of a police investigation targeting “high-level” cocaine trafficking in the St. John’s area.
Anthony Clowe, 51, of Paradise is charged with money laundering and possessing property obtained by crime.
His case was called at Newfoundland and Labrador provincial court in St. John’s on Wednesday morning.
Defence lawyer Randy Piercey declined comment on behalf of his client.

Good win tonight. It was definitely a carry over effort wise since the 3rd period of the Pens game. Idk how we won with this lineup but it was nice to see a fast, aggressive, scrappy team. Tonight really highlighted our need to get more speed in our lineup. Even tho the players we are missing are better, we just don't have enough speed to take advantage of their talent. Gomez was awesome tonight and last night. We've sorely lacked a forward who could carry the puck through the neutral zone with out pitching it in. Also his passing is still great. He should have been signed along time ago. Good news is the Metro is so fucking bad that we're only 3 pts out of 3rd, and if we miss out on that we'll still have a shitty enough record to get a good pick.
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 4m4 minutes ago Devils outhit Maple Leafs 50-36. The 50 hits were a season high by wide margin. Previous high was 36 in opener in Philadelphia.
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 4m4 minutes ago Seth Helgeson led the way with 10 hits. Eric Gelinas had 6. Jordin Tootoo had 5 in 5:45 of ice time.
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 2m2 minutes ago Tonight was a continuation of third period vs. Pittsburgh. They had 16 hits in third.

@tsnbobmckenzie: NJ puts Damien Brunner on waivers. ARI puts Kyle Chipchura on waivers.
@tgfireandice 45s45 seconds ago Lou Lamoirello said if Brunner clears waivers he could still be in Devils' lineup Saturday. Doesn't necessarily mean he'll be sent down.
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 6m6 minutes ago Lamoriello: “I just felt with the logjam of players that we have right now and hopefully people will be coming back from the injured list...
Tom Gulitti @tgfireandice 5m5 minutes ago Lamoriello cont: "...we’ll have to start making decisions and this was a decision that we made."
Not exactly surprising after Pete yelled at him in the 2nd then benched him. Still thought we could have gotten a 6th or 7th round pick for him since he has some skill and is a cheap expiring contract. Maybe a trade is incoming too?

[With gas and oil prices dropping the KHL is real lying hurting. They pay their players in Rubles and value has gone down considerably. If it continues to drop we could see some talent coming back to the US which means a possible Kovy return.
James Mirtle @mirtle Players are paid in rubles over there, so they've lost roughly 35% of the value of their contracts already. This threatens KHL in a big way.
