And thats the thing... nothing is FREE. What's free to one person simply means someone else paid for it. We're all smart, we all know that. It can be argued that healthcare is simply an economic good, the result of someone else's labors and talents, and that the government shouldn't be involved in its procurement... either a free market exchange of goods and services, or private charity stepping in to cover the gaps. Yes it can be argued for sure. But then the flip side is with "regular" economic goods...Charlie doesn't get a big screen TV because he's unemployed....so who gives a shit. Its different if Charlie doesn't get an operation because he's unemployed....and dies. Now some wouldn't give a shit. Some would. But healthcare is a different thing...it just is. Hey I'd love it if private charity's could cover Charlie, but he's a dick with no friends and no one likes him anyway. So you are saying this system might get Charlie to not be such a dick? Win/Win. It is called personal responsibility. Also, is your name really Charlie?

Except that since the 80s, if Charlie shows up to the ER, they will treat him. With any of these plans, existing or proposed, people may be uninsured, or insured with deductibles they cant ever pay, rendering them for all intents and purposes, effectively uninsured, but no one is dying in the streets. Yes that what Im saying about healthcare not being a commodity. Id still say its a commodity, just that we've put a safety net in place, in case of emergencies. Charlie is unemployed and cant afford food. He starves to death. Is food then not a commodity?

I love when Democrats suddenly care about the plight of the coal miner, after wanting to shut down all the coal mines

I posted a link to a video a few weeks ago about a surgery center in Oklahoma that is doing things at a fraction of the cost and they do not accept insurance. Maybe the problem is that we are working with an antiquated model that is slow/resistant to change. I think Trump's plans of reducing regulations would greatly help. I keep reading articles about cheap and fast ways to detect diseases but they never make it to market. That could be because they didn't live up to the hype but it could also very easily have been buried by regulations and lobbyists.

500k drop in Obamacare enrolls for 2017.
So did Obama cause these people to lose their health insurance?

Never going to happen. Clinicians do not see rich or poor. They see a patient or a human in need of help. It is why most do what they do. My wife could give a rats ass if the kid she just treated for Sickle or HIV or teen pregnancy ever pays the bill. Just that they are or have a plan to get better. They will never get to your wife...those on lower tier will wait longer and get sub-standard care. You obviously have no clue about healthcare.

No fake names needed. Just show up and get all the care you need. Walk, or be given a cab ride, home and you are done. Then they complain about their wait or their script not being ready at the outpatient Pharmacy on time. Did I mention that we feed them to if they request food. For everyone in the room. Only in America do we create a system so bad that it can be taken advantage of by people who do not even speak English. You're kidding yourself if you think its just "those" people. It is not just the Spanish immigrant. We pay for Japanese, Chinese and Russian interpreters, just to name a few. We can handle the English speakers all on our own.,

Wouldnt you just bill me? And if they dont pay, it goes to collections? Yes we bill you. Then we send it to collections and then we write it off as bad debt.

What is really ridiculous is to hear pt.'s compare notes on how to game the system. Sickening. Yet I have to pay everything I owe and my overall cost is higher. I work in Healthcare and I pay 1010.00 monthly just for medical. Then add in dental, vision, life ins and LTD and it is really expensive. 200.00 per person 4000 family deductible. Sucks.

Kinda like auto insurance. We're all material objects now, not people. Soylent Green is people!
