Read the First Man in Rome series by Coleen McCullough. It covers Marius, Sulla, Pompey and Caesar if you like historical fiction. It was peobably the best book series I've ever read. Cool. I'll check it out.

I've read a lot of books that turned out to be crap lately. Really in need of a good story. Here are some things I've read lately that have been good: The Witcher books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Liked the Netflix series so decided to read the books. The books were better! Books from Hugh Howey that I'd recommend: The Wool Series, The Sand Series, Bacon 23 The Arthur books by Bernard Cornwell Neil Gaiman books, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, The Graveyard Book Anything By Charlie Huston (if you like noir). The Passage by Justin Cronin Believe it or not, True Grit. Didn't think I'd like it and was really surprised at how great it is. Delightful prose. Seriously. Tried to read other Charles Portis books, none of them had the same magic. David Spade Audiobook, Polaroid Guy in a Snapchat World was funny if you like Spade. Charlie Huston Caught Stealing series. Yes! Really liked those and most of his other books. Lotsa fun.

The Institute - Stephen King Will likely turn into a TV Series... I finally broke down and binged The Dark Tower series and I want my money back. Been reading the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown. Think Rome in space. Really well written, character development is solid, and it's kinda brutal. HBO or Netflix would be wise to scoop it up.

After that it went off the rails. Drawing of the three was one of the best books I’ve ever read. The ending was absurd. A man tired of the story and not knowing how to wrap it up.

Anything by Donald Westlake is fun. All NY locales; lotsa fun. Gets complicated and dumb but hella funny. "The Hot Rock" was Donald Westlake; capers.

My brother made me read "The Comedy Writer" by Peter Farrelly. He's in LA with an agent, living in west hollywood with actors and ... actors kind of suck. He's a very talented writer, with an ear for other people.

Dig out some of Dennis miller's audio books. He really lets fly. "Strom Thurmond is so old, his cake has more candles than a Sting video."
"How cold is Newt Gingrich, really...every time he opens his mouth a little light comes on"

The Institute - Stephen King Will likely turn into a TV Series... Yeah, that was really good.
His latest book that came out the other day sucked balls though. I never liked Holly Gibney and King can't stop writing about her.
I think some of his best stuff always has kids. He knows how to capture childhood.

I think some of his best stuff always has kids. He knows how to capture childhood. Except for IT where they all ran a train on that girl! I bet he regrets that one in hindsight. I thought that was super fucking weird even back in the 80’s when I read it.

You could ride 3 hours on the LIRR to get your SCREW MAGAZINE, in Penn Station...good time waster.
Hard to get Mom interested in such a short trip to the City, though.
