Gailey has a good eye for talent, when he was HC at Georgia Tech he recruited Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas. He runs a spread type offense with some uptempo elements, but is generally balanced. You don't see a huge discrepancy in his run/pass ratios. For Geno, this is good news and if you are looking at any of the potential rookie QBs it certainly opens up a few options. Aside from the the two top guys, you have Petty, Grayson and even Hundley as guys who could play well in this offense.

Seems like an offense that would benefit Geno who prospered in college with a quick strike O that let his WRs get YAC and minimized turn overs. also wonder if it will finally influence the types of offensive players they target in FA and the draft, guys who can make people miss, guys who can turn short passes into long gains. maybe he can figure out how to get the most out of amaro. Well Harvin is that guy, no? Makes me think he should stay if we will properly utilize him. Kerley should be that kind of guy too.

This hire opens up a TON of options at QB. Potential to draft and actual develop someone. Grayson is certainly the highest graded prospect to watch

A lot of good points that are made here about Gailey. I was iffy about this move in the beginning but now I feel more comfortable with it. My only issue is that he has been gone for 2 years, has the game gone past him? Will he be motivated to fix a dicey QB situation and an inept offense. I guess we will see.

Percy Harvin will be a monster next season if he sticks around..... Yep, this just changed the whole Harvin dynamic for me. I think you keep him around at his base salary this year. Who cares about the $10.5 million cap hit? We're still set to have around $53 million to spend even if we keep Percy around. Cooper, Decker, Harvin, Kerley and Amaro has the potential to be an awesome set of weapons to work with in Gailey's spread system. And as it's been pointed out, if we're set to go with Geno again next year, at least it'll be in an offensive system that is perfectly suited for him.

Yeah, but does anyone seriously want Geno Smith starting? There's limited choices available, we may not land any of them and we need to accept that. That's not really my point. My point is why would we want to cater our offense to a bust QB who acts as the 12th man for the opposing team's defense? That's why all this talk about "the offense suiting Geno" just seems really silly to me. The only thing that should be suiting Geno Smith right now is the waiver wire.

Yeah, but does anyone seriously want Geno Smith starting? Doesn't matter what everyone wants. The bottom line is that unless we land either Mariota or Winston in the draft, then we're going to be staring at someone like Geno Smith or Matt Moore behind center. Oh, well fuck me, why even bother having a site dedicated to discussing the team in the first place?
