it used to be that a top flight running back could really make a team. lok at guys like earl campbell or dickerson. those guys made the teams they played for. but it's not so now. the way the rules favor the passing game teams are foolish to waste picks and large contracts on running backs. Usually I would agree, but it's a different case when you're dealing with a special talent like Gurley.

I've been saying I want them to take an OL, but I believe Gurley is a special talent. So while I think 6 may be a bit high to take him, I'm still ok with him as a choice.

If we stay put at 6 I'd prefer cooper or white if either are available. But I would not be upset at all if we take gurley. As long as we don't draft a defensive player at 6 I'll be happy. Not really sold on any of these top DE / OLBs that are projected to us. I'd rather take the sure thing in gurley and go Wr or oline in the 2nd.

According to Cimini, McShay mocks Gurley to the Jets at #6, FWIW.

If we have a game changer at rb and maybe the best defense in the lg, with stars at wr and draft solid players for oline , it can make whoever is playing qb life easier geno or fitz. I say take Gurley he's a beast.

Yeah my concern about Gurley is not his ability but the fact that he is coming off a major injury, an ACL injury of all things. He also injured his ankle in 2013. Questions about whether he will lose a step and also his violent running style for a guy that has an injury history is a concern. To me, I think its a little different then say Revis tearing his ACL because he is not exposed to contact as much. All you doctors in the house please correct me if I am wrong but that's what I think. The guy is supremely talented no doubt, could be compared to Marshawn Lynch but with better speed, but I would pass at 6 if in fact the rumors are true that he will be a top 10 pick which I think is BS. However, if he is there late in round 1 and we already corralled a edge rusher with our first pick, I would totally be open for a trade up to get him.

It's not entirely the rules. You put a 20-year old Earl Campbell in the draft, and I'd drop a #6 on him in an instant. Granted rule changes (like making spearing a penalty - - 9 seconds in) have lessened things a bit, but EC was transcendent and would still completely transform an offense. Is there a 245 lb. RB with 4.5 speed available? If so, sign me up.

If we got him lower I'd say yes, but not at #6.

Gonna hold you guys to that. Not if they trade down, but at 6? If a year from now Gurley turns out to be the next AP, would you really give two shits if you got him at 6 or 12? I say again, Adrian Peterson.

I wouldn't really know. Not a college guy but def have heard his name plenty. Know I've seen some of him but I can't keep track of these college players.
