What do you think the consensus reaction would be if this happened? From RotoworldYahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson reports the "word on the street" is Georgia RB Todd Gurley will be a top-10 pick. Specifically, Robinson expects Gurley to be picked in the 6-10 range. The Jets and Falcons at Nos. 6 and 8, respectively, would seem to be the most logical fits in that range, as ESPN's Todd McShay's most-recent mock draft released on Wednesday has the Jets taking Gurley at No. 6. Gurley reportedly received "two thumbs up" at his medical recheck in Indianapolis, adding more fuel to Gurley's already piping-hot draft stock. He's a lock to come off the board on Day 1. I might follow Rex to Buffalo if the Jets draft a fucking RB with a 1st round pick.

Gurley is a rare talent. I'd be ok with it considering I wanted him at the top of the draft before he got hurt. ACL SHMAY-CL.

I wouldn't be pissed about it because I truly believe that Gurley has the potential and skill to be a transcendent talent at the position like Peterson.
Still, I doubt that's the direction the Jets go in.

Still, I doubt that's the direction the Jets go in. don't know if this is relevant, but the texans have had success with foster, not an early round pick i think. conversely, the texans have drafted several defensive players in the first and got major production out of johnson. i still think the pick comes down to cooper, white or beasley, purely based on their draft board and positional value.

McCagnan comes from a franchise who had a UDFA become one of the best RBs in the league. Bowles has seen mid Round RBs turn out ok I'm AZ. I will be shocked and extremely disappointed if a RB is the pick at 6.
Sounds like misinformation to drum up interest in the trade market for the number 6 pick

No thanks. @6 I want a player who can/should perform at a high level for 10 years. Rb just do not do that. it'd be like picking Vernon or Sanchez all over again.

If they think he'll have an Adrian Peterson type impact in the running game then it's a no brainer to take him at 6. With the way FA played out the Jets set themselves up to either take a RB or OLB in the first round. You have to remember as well that the Jets will have no RB's under contract after the 2015 season. Getting the best one in the draft at a low cost for the next 5 years or so would be smart. I think the only 3 down backs in the draft are Gurley and Gordon and I think both will go in the top 15. The rest are likely either power backs or change of pace backs. In my opinion there is a big drop off after the top 2 and then about 6-8 guys lumped into the 3rd-4th round but some will likely get pushed up into the 2nd. In comparison, I think that OLB is a much deeper position throughout the draft. If the Jets are looking to find an all around back they'll have to get him in the first round. I'd rather trade back with the Browns or somebody and pick up an extra pick or two and then take a HB in the middle of the first. But either way my philosophy is that if you love a guy and think he'll be a star it doesn't matter where you take him. And Gurley will be gone by pick 13 to the Saints at the latest so it's not like you're reaching for him. But with that being said the guy I want is Cooper. It'll allow Marshall to play more slot, where much of his production has always come from, and then you would have Decker and Cooper outside. Good luck covering Marshall with a safety or a NB. And if you move a starting CB inside to cover him then you're screwed outside against Decker or Cooper. Either way it's a matchup nightmare for the defense and that's without adding the dimension that Amaro brings.

Give me Cooper or Gurley and I'll be fine. I'll be fine with Mariota too.
The offense needs playmakers. You can't neglect that position and the fact that the rookie wage has leveled the playing field on selecting any position at the top of the draft without destroying the franchise I'd be all in with the Gurley pick. He's a 3 phase player and he does them all exceedingly well.

it used to be that a top flight running back could really make a team. lok at guys like earl campbell or dickerson. those guys made the teams they played for. but it's not so now. the way the rules favor the passing game teams are foolish to waste picks and large contracts on running backs.
