where is 100 million coming from? You guys throw around numbers off the top of your heads. Mo is a rare NFL player in that he plays his position better than just about anyone, and the league has more and more teams playing this type of D. You cannot just find a player of this caliber Your last sentence is exactly what his agent will be saying to command top money. 100 mil comes from the consensus that Mo is second only to Watt at his position, how does his agent not try for comparable numbers?

i wonder if mccagnan is thinking about trading wilk to the titans in a deal to get mariotta. i think the jets could get a pick back in the deal, besides the 2nd pick of the draft. 2nd pick + x = 6th pick + wilkerson. what is x, a mid rounder?

Watt A notch below: Ndamukong Suh The next tier: Gerald McCoy, Muhammad Wilkerson, Cameron Jordan, Sheldon Richardson, Aaron Donald

Non story. Likely his agent drumming up noise to get the contract stuff moving. Nothing may come of it, but it's not a non story when we have a potentially ugly stand off over what Mac and Mo's agent think he's worth. He's not at voluntaries and he may be commanding north of 100 mil, if the Jets don't think he's worth Watt money then they have a genuine trade chip. Plus it's from Shefter so I take that as fairly credible. There is no evidence there is a potential ugly stand off. People overreact to this stuff. There are people all over the NFL skipping these workouts for varying reasons, including contract reasons. It's a non story. If the Jets were reaching out to teams about Wilkerson, it's a different story. That isn't the case.

Agreed there are hypotheticals and a lot of different connotations, still worthy of discussion and a genuine possibility it could happen IMO.

This is is why I would consider a trade, I see a potential stand off over what Mac and his agent feel he's worth.

His agent will absolutely point to Watt's deal, but then if I'm Mac/Graves...I point to Watt's 57 sacks, 37 passes defensed, 12 FF's and 5 TD's over the last 4 years compared to Wilk's 24.5 sacks, 14 passes defensed, 7 FF's and 1 TD during the same time frame. Still, Wilkerson is going to command a contract in excess of $70 million.

I love Mo but I'm not sure at this point what numbers I'm comfortable with, all I want is a legit QB for this team.

This is the worst time of year to take anything floated to the media as serious. Everybody is gaming everybody. Who knows if there is any truth to any of this.
I would not trade a guy who is the leadership of the best part of our team and playing at a pro bowl level just to take a shot at a QB in the draft, especially for a QB who has all but said he doesn't want to play in NY and is questionable as an NFL QB.

If you can get a 1st round pick as compensation for Wilkerson you absolutely take it.

Why would we trade Mo just to draft Leonard Williams? Unless we somehow traded for a Riversesque QB along with a top ten pick it just doesn't make sense. What if he falls to number 6? Which IMO is looking like a real possibility.

Which IMO is looking like a real possibility. If he falls to six and we can still trade Mo for another top ten pick then sure, otherwise idk. Mo is already a proven top defensive talent, and while Williams has promise there's a big risk.
