According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, at least two teams have called the Jets to see if defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson was available. While that’s not nearly the same as the Jets making their star lineman available, it is worth noting a few things here. First, Wilkerson is staying away from offseason workouts because he wants a new contract. Secondly, the Jets brought Southern Cal defensive lineman Leonard Williams for a pre-draft visit, and that would be a rich set of 3-4 ends if they added him to Sheldon Richardson and they were thinking about keeping Wilkerson around. It’s the time in the week where we get a bit of noise that never comes to anything, but given Wilkerson’s contract situation, it’s hard to rule this one out at the moment, depending on how the top five picks fall. bleacherreport.com/tb/dgwPk

Rivers plus Chargers #1 or I'm not interested

Any chance they throw Mo on the table to Tennessee for the #2 pick?
Worries me what a potential Mo trade would do for the locker room, he's a leader and looked upto by the likes of Sheldon, snacks etc.
That said if he's looking for McCoy or Watt money then how do you at least not explore it?

Rivers plus Chargers #1 or I'm not interested I agree in part, I mean it's Wilk, whats not to love. The thing is I get the feeling him and his agent are looking at silly money, in that case you have to at least listen.

Very tempting. I love Mo but if that gives us a chance at a QB for the next 5-10 years, you have to consider it.

Why would we trade Mo just to draft Leonard Williams? Unless we somehow traded for a Riversesque QB along with a top ten pick it just doesn't make sense.

I'm not even sure why people are bringing up Rivers.
The guy doesn't even want to move 100 miles north to sunny LA.
Why the hell would he want to move 3,000 miles to NYC?
He's not a big city guy at all.

If the Jets are sold on Mariota, I'd absolutely consider packaging Wilkerson and the 6th pick to move up for him.
There's no guarantee that the Jets even get a longterm deal finalized with him.
So if he can provide the necessary ammo to move up and get a kid who has the talent to be a legitimate franchise QB for the next decade, then go do it.
Especially since we just picked up Coples' 5th year option and he's certainly an adequate replacement.

If u think Coples can play 3/4 end at a high enough level . I would trade him if you get good value .. Say first and second rounder this year ? Or draft Williams if he's still on board would have him locked up cheap for 5 years .. Mo is looking to get paid stupid money .. Wi that affect signing Richardson long term who is a younger better player

Hypothetically speaking - Would Mo be enough on his own or would Tennessee be looking for the No.6 pick and Mo for their No.2 ?

I think mo and the number 6, they get a stud and move back 4 spots and still could draft another stud. We get Mariota and a potential franchise QB for a fraction of the money Mo wants.

This franchise's problem since the dawn of it has been not locking up there elite talent...
Abe, Santana, Coles, Vilma, Revis, on and on we can go.
Pay the man.

Hypothetically speaking - Would Mo be enough on his own or would Tennessee be looking for the No.6 pick and Mo for their No.2 ? They would want both. Some people are overrating the hell out of Wilkerson's value. He's a damn good 5-tech, but he isn't in the same stratosphere as a guy like Watt. He isn't some kind of dominant gamechanger. He's a great run stuffer who will give you 8-10 sacks a year. He's essentially a more athletic Shaun Ellis.
