That's fine he does suck, but you need to realise that so does Fitz on an epic level and we are not goin anywhere near the playoffs with him. I promise you will be screamin murder by game 5 when Fitz is gettin pulled and we are paying 12 mil a year for the privilege while we let Mo walk out of the door. We are not goin to the playoffs with either of these QB's so why not just go with the cheapest and put our resources to retaining Mo? That is where you and I disagree. We were 5-5 last year and went on a five game rip...give me the old "I told ya so" when we are eliminated from playoff contention... Man, you need to wake up. You're too old to play the ignorant card. You're letting your disdain for other players dictated the value of another. You saw the best punch Fitz packs. It was "meh". We beat up on a bunch of sub.500 teams and missed the playoffs in shameful fashion against Rex... Do you really think there's an EVEN BETTER version of Fitz in 2016? Are you mad?? Time move on. There's NO version of a Fitzpatrick-led superbowl Jets squad -- and this team is willing (i hope) to look at the big picture and make smart decisions.

You don't offer 12 mil to a journeyman QB who never has or will make the playoffs when your only competition is yourself. You start Geno Smith for buttons and tie up your best asset in Wilkerson. If Mac does this he can follow Fitz out the door next year for all I care. Right on why are the Jets tying up a journeyman QB when they should be using the resources on their best defensive asset Wilkerson. I like to give Geno one more shot before he walks off into the sunset. Plus like to see if Petty has anything to offer.

The best part of this story is yet to come...
Late June Jets sign fitz to some asshole deal...
late July He proceeds to suck at camp cause mentally he's out of shape, and as per the fitz cycle he regresses
August He's outplayed by Geno and everyone knows it
September/October He bombs as he always does after bamboozling, and Jets go 1-5
Mid-season Geno is thrown into a turbulent situation, tries to over-compensate/over-achieve and draws more ire
December Full team implosion.
/end season. nuclear fallout.

There was a window when bringing back Fitz, and even cutting Geno made sense... that was somewhere back in march.
I think we're just about beyond that now. You have to let these guy approach the 2016 season with some unity and cohesion.

Mark Sanchez as bad as he was took a fully stacked team to 2 championship games. Fitzpatrick with a similar stacked team couldnt even get to a wild card shows you he is not a good QB. Why would you waste 12 million on a QB who couldnt pull through a must win game to make the playoffs. All the Jets had to do is kick a field goal to pull ahead and use the defense yet Fitz found a way to screw that up.

I don't believe in Fitz or Geno but would take Geno because he's younger, cheaper, more mobile, has a better arm, and most importantly gives us financial flexibility to put towards Mo. You're a glutton for punishment amigo, they had it all in their hands and blew it with the playoffs on the line right in front of your eyes so the "told you so" moment has already been and gone. We lost every game last year where we came up against a playoff caliber defenses, do you think Rex isn't licking his chops at kicking Fitz's ass twice again next year? You think the NFC West defences are gonna let us play pitch and catch to Marshall and Decker all day long again this time around? You over value this leadership camaraderie BS, most QB's are arseholes and no one cares when you're winning. Fitz's passer rating was amongst the worst in the league and he benefited from some of the softest most statistically injury plagued defences in the league last year, how can you not see that brotha? I can't fathom that you think we should throw that kind of money at an 11 year career underachiever who was being passed around the league for 7th round picks not 18 months ago. Fitz is Fitz, you got the real him in buffalo and now you want more at a financial detriment to the team? C'mon Bing you can't seriously believe that's how we should conduct business?

So split the difference and meet in the middle, two years, $12 in year one, and $6 the second year.

Actually 12 wins... we were up 23-16 vs NE in the first game if I recalls.... throw in 2 more wins vs Buffalo and we host the Playoffs @ 14-2.

I can already see how this is going to play out...
Whether Fitz gets $8 million a year or $12 million...the majority of this fanbase is going to be calling for his head by Week 4 anyway.
We aren't playing a bunch of slap dicks like last year. The Cincinnati's, Arizona's, Seattle's and Kansas City's of the league sure as shit aren't the Browns or Titans.
I've never been a big proponent of the "Strength of Schedule" argument, but there's no damn question that we'll be facing a ton of defenses during the first half of the season who have made their names based on rattling QB's.
Fitz is going to get bent over a fucking barrel and manhandled.
This is a certainty.

Respect your honesty there Bing, you owned it and admitted it and that's cool. However blind loyalty does not change reality. Where you see 14-2 I see 7-9..... Lucky to beat a depleted awful Dallas team in OT. Lucky to beat the Giants in OT, key interception and Giants stupidity handed us that. Second Pats game they where banged up, still could've lost that. We broke lucky against shit teams, we where not a 10-6 ball club last year.

Maybe my brain is oversimplifying this but: Fitz wants 1 year. Jets want 3 year (probably to spread signing bonus cap hit over 3 years). Solution: 2 year deal. 10 million SB (5 million per year cap charge) and 2 million salary for 2016 guaranteed. Fitz pockets 12 million this year. The key - Year 2 is a player option which everyone assumes Fitz will decline to become a FA again. Jets cap hit 2016 - 7 million. Cap hit 2017 (dead money from signing bonus) - 5 million. We'll be in better cap shape next year to absorb the 5 million in dead money. Am I missing something?Yes, Fitzpatrick is a 30-something scheme dependent journeyman back up. Agree. But even they seem to be worth about that much in today's NFL. I don't think Fitz is going to take us into the playoffs this year given the schedule. I think the problem is Mikey Mac is trying to do the right thing for the franchise which is different from what the head coach and some older, key veteran players want to see happen. They don't want to go into the season feeling like it's just a "rebuilding" year.

No one is blaming the jets from a business perspective. From a roster viewpoint however - the team mentally needs to move on - with or with out him. 2016 is officially under way.
