After watching Winston's "butt fumble" moment, is there any question that he ends up with the Jets? While I am not a Winston fan, or trying to defend him, that play is nowhere near the Sanchez deal. It was 4th down, he was trying to make a play and the turf gave out on him. It was either fall down or try and throw it.

Like hell they do, and they better not What should they do This is why Woody is hiring the best possible football minds available to make an educated decision. I already feel better knowing Rex and John aren't behind this decision. I'm confident the hired hands will look at every angle at how to proceed with the future of the team and not make any rash decisions. If the QB available isn't what they feel is they right guy, I'm sure they'll move on and strengthen the team accordingly. And as we all know, we have needs in addition to QB. It might be best to get one next year after addressing more weapons and strengthening the OLine. Whoa - Amari Cooper, TD!

Wow, did you watch the game? Most of his throws were spot on and hit everyone in the hands. Oregon is just a better team. Winston's game translates better in the pros because he can see the field and throw in tight windows. Not his fault his teammates fumble the ball. If he's there when the Jets pick we better pick him. I think he'll be a star in the NFL. The Florida State defense stunk.

I didn't see the game but it sounds like Winston didn't play well.
Anyone else think that he should stay another year? He can work on the mechanic issues and can (hopefully) prove his maturity.

Think about this: if the Jets don't feel he's the "right guy"... then he might just be the right guy. #Costanzaoppositelife

You keep picking quarterbacks until you find a good one. Hoping every year that scrubs like geno or the sanchize finally get it is never going to work.

Could be the next bust, could be the next Big Ben. If he's there, we'll most likely pick him with new management coming in.

Don't know if this is BS or not - Baseball is his favorite sport. People at FSU have always felt that if he stayed, it would be because he wasn't ready to give it up. Also, I LOVE Cardale Jones. What a set of tools?! The arm, the size, the mobility...I've only seen the guy play 2 games, but wow. WOW. He's a stud.

I'm no quarterback whisperer, but I watched all the games yesterday to see the QB's play. Not one of them seems to be a lock to be an NFL stud, but bashing Winston isn't fair. He threw very nicely yesterday. While I rooted for Oregon, Winston was not the reason they lost yesterday. What scares me about Mariota is that unless he's in a Russell Wilson type offense, I'm not sure he's ready to be in an NFL style QB yet. No QB yesterday impressed me to the point where I thought they warrant the 6th pick. I'd much rather take a stud O-line guy, or trade down and pick up a few more picks. We could draft a nice receiver later in the 1st, and a few nice O-line guys there as well, or in the 2nd round.

I didn't see the game but it sounds like Winston didn't play well. Anyone else think that he should stay another year? He can work on the mechanic issues and can (hopefully) prove his maturity. The game last night was the best thing the Jets could have hoped for - a stat line that looks poor, along with his team losing, when in fact Winston did everything he normally does as a player, his teammates just let him down. Its amazing to me how our fan base, after living through 2 years of Geno Smith, could compare these 2 players. Completion % and to a degree interceptions in college DO NOT TRANSLATE to the pros. Geno's college numbers were astounding and he has NFL arm strength, but those numbers dont translate because in college he was throwing to open WRs, in the pros you throw to spots as rarely are players truly "open". Winston consistently throws to spots, rather then to open guys. He moves in the pocket, either keeping plays alive or finding his checkdown - basically exactly what you want to see a young QB do. Is his footwork poor, yes, mainly because he plays baseball all offseason rather then refining his mechanics. On a last note, did you notice him on the sideline at all? Going to the bench and telling his entire offense that he believed in them and that they would come back? Then he went on the field, hit his WR for a 20 yard gain and the kid fumbled. He is a leader on the field - yet another quality that Geno doesnt even remotely possess. As a fan base we can only pray he falls to us.

Winston has a lot of red flags on he off the field to warrant a high first round selection, but the guy does have tremendous upside...
I don't love the gimmick Ducks offense, but Mariota can diagnose plays and has incredible vision/anticipation... This is the one thing that separates good and bad QBs at the NFL level.

This stay away from Winston mania reminds me of the stay away from Marino disinformation campaign. If he's there the Jets have to take him. reminds a bit of last year's bridgewater fiasco. he was always the best qb in the draft. the over-analysis killed his stock, and now the vikes are grinning I like the idea of using a late round pick on the guy who consistently beat Bridgewater in High School and College... Rakeem Cato. It may have to be a mid round pick, since I do believe that once the scouts complete their QB evaluations, Cato will be rated higher than he is now.
