The Bucs are virtually guaranteed to take Mariota #1 overall and they have McCown as the veteran backup.
Mike Glennon could very well be on the trade block and he could be had for dirt cheap. I think a conditional 6th rounder (5th at most) would get a deal done.
Personally, I never understood why the hell this new regime in Tampa gave up on Glennon so quickly. Lovie Smith named McCown the starter as soon as the Bucs signed him and he turned out to be dreadful.
After McCown got banged up, they went back to Glennon and he performed admirably...only to be swept back to the bench and McCown reinserted, who continued to look like dogshit.
A 6'6 235 lb QB with a bigtime arm and surprising athletic ability to move around in the pocket. He's posted 29 TD's vs 15 INT's in his career so far and still has a high upside IMO.
I'd sure as hell feel a lot better about having a young kid with a high upside competing with Geno instead of some mediocre journeyman like Matt Moore or Jason Campbell.
Thoughts?

If Glennon performed admirably and McCown sucked why would Tampa trade Glennon for only a 6th round pick? A somewhat decent back up is worth a lot more than a 6th round pick.

He looks like a goof, but so do a lot of good QB's. Just look at guys like Peyton, Eli and Luck. If they didn't know how to throw a football, they'd probably be playing D&D in their parents basements right now.

In all seriousness he'd be good competition for Geno, but I don't think they'd let him go that easily.

I was on record drafting him rather than Geno. Now that was when we had Rex. To me he is " game manager" you can win with him as long as you play big time defence. Being that there is no " cant miss guy" out there. Id say yes.

He's probably best available on the trade market. Probably better than any turd we can sign in FA. Drafting Winston/Mariota is a pipe dream at this point. Sure why not? I'd feel better about having a young QB like Glennon than a turd journeyman like Matt Moore or Brian Hoyer...

Who knows what the hell is going through the skulls of Jason Licht and Lovie Smith? They've been botching the QB situation (and just about everything) in Tampa ever since they walked through the door. If you're planning to let Glennon rot away as the 3rd QB on the roster, then you might as well move him and get something in return. And I remember everyone saying that the Pats were going to get a 1st or 2nd rounder for Mallett eventually...and then they basically ended up giving him away for nothing.

Glennon was Schiano's man, so I guess the current regime has no ties or allegiances to him, kind of like the same spot Geno is in at the moment.

I like this idea. It's slim pickings out there for QB's and this would be one of the better options.

I was actually hoping the Jets would have drafted him, I'd be on board adding him to the mix.

I would definitely trade a 5 or 6 for Glennon and let him battle with Geno for the starting job while drafting someone like Petty or Hundley to groom for the future. Glennon has shown some starter skills when given the opportunity. I still am a fan of big pocket QB's. There isn't much out there in the free agency market so why not take a chance.

Looks a little like that Napoleon Dynamite guy...what's his name?
If we got him on the cheap, I would take a flyer on him. I wouldn't mind keeping someone with his size and skill around to keep the thing going while we rebuild the o-line, secondary and linebacker positions. That's going to take a few years, so... we can keep looking through the draft, free agency or trade to get our QB. Who knows, maybe he'll turn out to be something more than just serviceable.
We don't have many other options at this stage.

We don't have many other options at this stage. Yeah at worse I see him as a placeholder at QB while we build the OL and skill positions until a better option at QB arises. Best case scenario he could be an effective game manager for us with spurts of good QB play.....like Joe Flacco to give an example.... I would take the chance and bring him in....
