After hoping Fournette would fall into our laps last draft, I fully expect to watch him trample Davis and Lee in 2 weeks.

The Niners are awful. Definitely worse than us. Darnold may be staying in Cali. This is the thought that keeps me up at night, however: 1) Shanahan is a 1st year coach and they may heat up as the year goes on 2) The 49ers dropped close to 40 points last night. I can't see the Jets offense doing that this season. 3) The 49ers defense has a lot of good young players in Armstead, Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster. They should get better as the year goes on. We need Hackenberg in there ASAP to guarantee the tank.

Time will tell, I remember how high so many were on Pryor after his second year and how did that work out? Right now your list includes two players who have played two games(I liked Adams coming out and think he'll be a stud) and Burris who gave up two TD's last week and Jenkins, whom I barely realize is playing. Regarding Lee, anyone else. I made my thoughts clear on him before we drafted him. In fairness to Burris, he was up against one of the top young QBs in the game who never had a finger layer on him. If we had a fucking pass rush, maybe he doesn't get beat there. He's actually been pretty good overall. _ I agree on Burris. The kid is a 4th rounder who barely played last year. He got beat up a bit by Crabtree (who is a good receiver), but we need to give Burris some room to grow and develop. That was supposed to the point of this miserable season.

That's a sad list, no doubt. Unfortunately when you make that same list three years from now it is going to look eerily similar. Thank you Nostradamus. So I guess Jamal Adams, Leonard Williams, Marcus Maye, Jordan Jenkins, and Justin Burris are not going to pan out? And, although I keep asking, I'm still waiting for one of the draft "rain men" around here to enlighten me as to who Mac was supposed to pick other then Darron Lee with the 20th pick in the 2016 draft. It was a shitty year for first round talent. I hated the Lee pick and he was one of the guys I didn't want at that pick. The players selected after him have been nothing to write home about either. I wanted Lynch (who has been garbage) or Noah Spence (who has been good, but had character concerns). I generally agree with Lith. I can see that Macc has an OK eye for talent (he has done reasonably well in the late rounds and draft FA), but he is terrible at roster management, particularly when it comes to premium positions.

Hi guys. Just to change things up and discuss players other than Darnold/Rosen, I'm going to start to post videos about guys who might be available day 2.
Rashaad Penny is an interesting name. He played behind Donnel Pumphrey last year, but Penny is arguably the better pro prospect. Penny also had a very good game last week against Stanford. There aren't any videos of him yet available for this season, but this is footage from last year:

Jets should let Davis walk after the season and sign a guy like Kevin Minter or Preston Brown for $6-8 million per. I'd also look into taking an ILB in the late 2nd/early 3rd round like Cameron Smith or Malik Jefferson, pushing Lee to a sub package role. ILB is probably a bigger weakness and a more immediate need on this team than OLB.Agree 100%. The Jets are actually solid at OLB so far this season with Ealy and Jenkins. Both are under 26 and, once our interior DL wakes up, should start playing better. However, we have probably the worst pair of ILB in the league.

What would plan B be if Darnold and Rosen decide to stay in school? *ducks* God forbid...then I would take a guy like Arden Key or the best available OT, suck ass again next year, and then draft Darnold/Rosen in 2019. After seeing the product on the field this year, I'm starting to think that we are likely to be pretty bad next year, even if we do have Darnold or Rosen. I would be fine with that, I'm actually enjoying the games this season now that I have no expectations. Some of you may remember, but I posted an article in March or April from Tony Pauline. Tony said that he spoke to a team insider and the feeling was that the team was 2-3 years away from competing. This sounds like a pretty legitimate forecast.

I'd rate Maccagnan as mediocre (so far), but he's not nearly as bad as Idzik was.
In 2015, we were coming off a season where Idzik was run out of town for maybe the worst draft in team history (12 picks and not one starter aside from Enunwa) and sitting on a bunch of cap space. Maccagnan comes in with pressure to perform right off the bat, tries to make a quick run and gets the Jets from 5-11 to 10-6. Had the team won in week 17, its a playoff season. Maccagnan wins executive of the year.
His rookie class had one hit (Williams) 2 guys in Smith and Mauldin whose careers were derailed by injuries (that's bad luck) and Petty, who looks like a passable backup QB. Thats a mediocre draft.
In 2016, we tried to make one last playoff push and it blew up in our face. FA was horrible and the draft was horrible due to Lee and Hack. Jenkins, Robby Anderson and Edwards look like ok pickups, but it was a shit draft because of the first 2 rounds.
In 2017, we all knew it was tank time and most of us applauded it. Now we are complaining that the team is not competitive. Would we be more competitive with Decker and David Harris still on the team? Probably, but that would not be in the team's best interest long term.
However, his 2017 draft looks promising, Adams and Maye have looked good through 2 games. Stewart and Hansen looked pretty good in preseason and, sooner rather than later, we will see them in game action. Leggett also had a pretty good preseason. McGuire has flashed.
We knew what we were getting into this season.

Letting go of Snacks Extending Wilkerson 1st round pick on Lee 2nd round pick on Hackenberg Have the Jets had a worse offseason in the last 25 years? I think 2015 is slightly worse. We hired Macc and Bowles who have run this franchise even more into the ground than I thought was possible. We did get rid of Idzik and Rex, so that was a bit of a wash.

2010 into 2011 was pretty bad. AFC Championship game into the shitter. Signings. Releases. Abject failure. Jerricho Cotchery, Sal Alosi, Derrick Mason, Aaron Maybin, Damien Woody, Kris Jenkins, Jason Taylor, Isaiah Trufant, Dwight Lowrey, Braylon Edwards, Kenrik Ellis, Greg McElroy, Scotty McKnight, Brad Smith, Shaun Ellis, James Ihedibo, Tony Richardson, Steve Weathetford, Brodney Poole, Drew Coleman, massive $$ for Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress, Patrick Turner, Ellis Lankster, Jim Leonard, Trevor Canfield, Martin Trevasua and Ricky Sapp say hi. Not. Even. Close. _ Wow, that was pretty bad too. The beginning of the current nightmare streak.
